I died laughing when I ran into this complete nonsense on ebay. Do they honestly think there is someone dumb enough to buy this story and then drop 8 MILLION dollars on a coin? Just wondered what you guys thought P.S. I sent him an offer of $500 just to see what type of response I would get http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-P-Penn...em1c208f94de

This exact same coin for this exact same amount with this exact same story from the exact same seller was up a little while ago. It wa sposted here as a matter of fact. Obviously nobody took him up on this tremendous deal.

Is it even allowed to spend 8.5M on an item. That would be a lot of money moving around. How would you pay...a personal check, what, paypal.

Firstly, is it possibly a real overstrike? If real...an incredibly optimistic asking price!

If real it's unusual but certainly not worth the $8.5-10 million he is hoping to get, more like a tens of thousands or less I'd guess.
Hardly the worlds most valuable double denomination, I'd bet there are a few early gold or copper errors out there that would make this pale in comparrison.

There's one on Heritage right now (also a 1995 with two clear dates), so hardly one of a kind. The one on Heritage is up to $1265 (with BP) and I think that's probably the right price range, though I've heard of them selling for less.

As extreme as the asking price is, I have to say the story in the description is the best part of the auction to me.

Look at the ungraded Peace dollar he sold a few weeks ago. It has clearly been cleaned and he is listing it as unc, and description says uncleaned. That right there would make me not buy anything from him. Argh!

I will buy it. I will send a man to his house with a suitcase and offer him either 8 millions dollars or a different penny. See if he takes the money this time.

The prose alone is worth 10 million (somethings).

If I remember correctly, this guy mentioned this coin in the middle of someone elses thread right here on Coin Community Family a few months ago. A couple of members got after him a little bit for being rude and he went away.
