Ok, this thread is a little bit of pride/bragging/showing-off. History: When I started collecting Seated Liberty half dollars, I was VERY intimidated by the LOW 1879-1890 mintages of these coins. (i.e., 1879 SLHD mintage = 4,400 business strikes, 1884 SLHD mintage = 4,400 business strikes, 1885 = 5,200 business strikes, etc.) All VERY low mintages. I remember thinking, there is NO WAY I'll ever have even a chance of owning any of these low-mintage year SLHDs. But, after years of scrambling, I'm proud to say, I now have one of each of these year Seated Liberty half dollars. Enjoy! 1879 SLHD mintage: 4,800 1880 SLHD mintage: 8,400 1881 SLHD mintage: 10,000 1882 SLHD mintage: 4,400 1883 SLHD mintage: 8,000 1884 SLHD mintage: 4,400 1885 SLHD mintage: 5,200 1886 SLHD mintage: 5,000 1887 SLHD mintage: 5,000 1888 SLHD mintage: 12,001 1889 SLHD mintage: 12,000 1890 SLHD mintage: 12,000

How long did it take you to put all of these together?

I love the 1879! To me, it is the exemplar of what a 19th century silver coin should look like. It inspires me to get started on my long-wanted 3 cent silver collection, which likewise features some very low mintage numbers.

Very nice Moe. Love em. I agree with captainwiffo on the 1879. I collect Seated coinage from time to time but the low mintage run from 1879-1890 is a collection goal that appeals to me. Thanks for sharing.

Holie tailfeathers, what an eye popping spread! And the consistency of grade is astounding. The 1885 is my absolute favorite, but any one of these would be extremely welcome in that empty hole in my Dansco 7070 that is 12 coins shy. I'm curious as to when you began this quest. Was it pre-internet?
