I contacted a seller about this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ht_500wt_901My question was simple and - I thought - un offensive. Quote: Dear coinedout,
Nice looking coins. I'm very interested but wanted to verify the condition before bidding. The reverse seems to have two parallel white marks that appear to be on the slab (one through the left hand side of the V and another through the right hand side of the wreath). Is this correct? The coin is not marked in these areas? Thanks for your help. This was the response: Quote: If PCGS graded coins are not good enough just being in PCGS holders you may want to look at a different auction, thanks
- coinedout

I often ask questions about a coin before bidding on ebay, and I always gotten courteous quick responses. You asked an intelligent question and got a nasty response. If you look at his negative feedback it appears he has attitude problem. I would avoid him at all costs.

Your question was completely reasonable. I would spend my money with someone else.

Not to mention that in the item info it says returns are accepted, but in the description he says returns are only for uncertified coins. I'd avoid him for sure.

You might want to add him to the thread on Discouraged Sellers.

The slab is severely scuffed and that should have been mentioned in the auction. His response to a simple question was uncalled for, I would never respond to a potential customer that way

Thanks guys - I thought I might have asked an inappropriate question. I'm not going to but from him and I sent him an email telling him so.
He is on the list of discouraged sellers but there isn't too much detail there. I'll add some now.

Yeah, A little to much attitude for a potential sale. I guess his philosophy is 'buy the slab, not the coin'.

True that. If PCGS grades it as AU, who am I to say otherwise - or even question it. I honestly can't understand how some people think. Here's my response to this seller (just for laughs): Quote: Dear coinedout,
Wow. Great response. I wasn't bashing PCGS, the coin or you in my question. All I wanted to do was verify that the slab had a mark on it (as I suspected and stated in my email) rather than the coin being sold. It's hard enough to judge coin quality from so-so images and sometimes a little help from someone with the coin in hand is useful. Yes, PCGS is an excellent grading company and probably wouldn't put a damaged coin in their holder but I tend to buy coins, not pieces of plastic, regardless of what company's name happens to be on them.
Besides, what's the harm in answering my question? You could have invested your time in writing something pleasant, rather than your nasty response but I suppose you know best how to spend your own time. I was actually pretty psyched to find your store and have been tracking several of your items. Not anymore. That's the harm in being rude to a potential customer. Thanks for the heads up and best of luck to you.

That guy buys slabs, not coins. Obviously. He probably doesn't even own a loupe.

Very well written response! Not only did he turn you away from being a potential customer, but now he probably turned away at least a large portion of any potential customers that may read this thread.

I'm actually surprised by the response. The seller has done so many transactions that he should be able to respond appropriately by now. Some people just never learn. He does sell some nice lower-value coins and I have often bid on his auctions, although I have never won one.

PMS. Pretty miserable seller syndrome. He obviously didn't get what he wanted for his last coin. I'm dealing with one on ebay in New Orleans right now. Keep the faith and "kill em with kindness" when you deal with them. Don't stoop to their brand of poison pen. Your response was perfect.
