I put a bid in on this coin hoping I can get it for a good price. Problem is, I like the coin so much I may want to go higher if it looks like I won't win. Before going out on a limb though, I'd like to nail down the grade a bit better. I'm thinking it should make low to mid MS. Any opinions? Thanks. peter

IMO, AU58.. Appears to be slight friction on highest points.

I don't think the coin is Mint State.

I also concur, the top of the cap shows a bit of muted grey area a sign of light rub. Also the cheek isn't clean enough to warrant a MS designation, but it is sure close to it probably AU55/58.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I was wondering the same thing about the high points but wasn't sure. I likely won't bid any higher if the consensus is AU even though I love the coin.

Don't assume you might lose, then bid higher. If you really want it.. figure out the maximum amount that you are willing to pay then bid that amount within the last few seconds. Highest bidder always wins regardless. I've seen an item jump from $22 to $780 in the last 3 seconds on ebay. Just throw your high bid in there and hope your the highest.

I agree that that it looks like there is a bit of wear on the cheek. AU-58 on this one.

One more vote for AU-55 to AU-58, due to slight wear on high points, apparent friction in the obverse fields, and muted luster. I'd bet it looks somewhat lighter in-hand.
