4000-Post-Contest-From-Tng-*-Ended-*-Thank-You!

4000-Post-Contest-From-Tng-*-Ended-*-Thank-You!

Here's how this works,

Just post the answers, not the questions with the answers.
I would say that simply using copy and pasting the answers that somebody else worked for will disqualify you.
My call. No arguments, the purpose of this is educational and fun, so do the research.

The first person to get 100% correct posted closest to the time after I get 4000 posts will win 1st prize,
second closest with 100% will get 2nd prize and third closest to the time with 100% correct after I get 4000 posts will win 3rd prize.

The answers may be close to being exactly correct that you give and they may be accepted if close enough.
I will post the winners, Again, my call.

Much of this information, except the math question, can be found right here in this forum.

Too many hours at work to do the research on the few questions I do not know ... but ... indeed!

Congratulations on the 4000 posts ... and I've learned a lot from your wisdom.

Neither of you are 100% correct, excellent job but not quite. But since this is so hard to do, I am going to award you both one of the two prizes and the next person that posts with 100% correct or closer or as close as you guys did without copying and pasting answers will win the third prize.
It seems that the quiz is a little tougher than I thought. But again, I am impressed.

Answers

1. 1793 Head facing Left US Half Cent
2. The Morgan dollar
3. $263.70
13 x $5.6804 = $73.8452
12 x $2.2721 = $27.2652
35 x $4.6453 = $162.5855
Total = $263.6959 or rounded off to the nearest cent $263.70
4. 1919 S
5a. True
5b. True
5c. False ( Philadelphia and New Orleans )
5d. False ( it was minted in Dahlonega Georgia )
6. 1838 Mint Drop - Loco Foco Hard Times Token
7. pattern
8. Jefferson nickels
9. 1918 Illinois Centenial Commemorative Half Dollar
and on the Reverse of the LP2 2009 Lincoln Cent
10. False
( Some Jefferson nickels are very difficult to find with step detail, and
they could grade in a very high uncirculated mint state and have absolutely
no step detail at all. Two factors would be strike quality and the other the
condition of the working dies that strike them. )

LATE EDIT

Interesting that we all got different but very close answers to the math bullion question. My answer will be considered the closest though .....

I have been playing plumbers helper, after my morning school bus runs and checked on this in between. It's back to work then back to the bus. I will be bushed but will post again later.
You guys who won can PM me and mcshilling, I will send you something as well so PM me too with your mailing addresses. This is over, and thanks for the congrats, I hope that in someway I have helped out some collectors in more than a few of those 4000 posts.

Missed by 1 minute, do have a ?

#3 you have $263.70 your answer is final BUT, when I did it useing $31.47 and this site

http://www. (124) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed .com/coins/silver_coin_calculator.html

I came up with $73.99 for 13 quarters, $27.32 for 12 dimes and $164.21 for 35 halfs, total $264.21

Just wondering?

vb3347 and jdavis18 are so close I will just address the envelopes I have put the #1 and #2 prizes in without looking at which is which and it really doesn't matter anyway since all of these lots are about the same.

Left clearly falls in third but was quick at the draw. I did make up a 4th set of the same for mcshilling for giving it the old college try.

I went to a site that keeps current with spot and it also updates at the same time the value of silver content in US coins by type.At the time, those were the figures in my post for the values of the coins. I think that all our answers were probably correct depending on how the math was done and by how many decimals were used. It was all close enough for horseshoes. You can now safely buy and sell your silver coins on Pawn Stars without getting ripped off.

I'll leave this topic up until you all get your prizes.
I have them all packed and addressed, all I have to do is go to the PO. Thanks for playing.
