This one is strange looking indeed, I can see the word GOD on the REV, it looks like a chunk of copper is missing... PMD?

I think you may have something interesting here Can you get a weight and a closer picture of the indented area?
I suspect that it was struck while overlapping another fully struck coin, i.e. a partial brockage error.

Looks more like a part of the planchet coming off the coin. To small to be an indent.

I would have to doubt this is a genuine error, but do not know how it was created. I dunno - errors aren't my forte.

Looks genuine to me and not PMD.
Looks like the planchet shattered on the strike.
Superb find

Here's an overlay. Reverse on top set to 50% opacity.

Lettering is an exact match in postion, size, and spacing. GOD was not added. Not PMD.

Thanks for all your inputs it's truly a valued education for me. Errors aren't my forte either so it's going sent to bidding on ebay auctions. Can anyone weigh in on average value of this type? Might be new thread "Guessing final sales Price".

I think it is a bit premature to be talking about listing it on ebay before it is even confirmed whether it is damage or an error

hogs.,

In the possible event that an externally-referred-to URL is renamed or moved, a CCF member will no longer be able to successfully click on it if it is located within a CCF thread.

Therefore, it is strongly suggested that one uploads a .jpg copy of the document being referred to within a CCF thread.

Because of the length of this 'U.S Mint Error Coin Price List' I was unable to condense the entire list in to a .jpg doc that would fit...

Therefore, just the lamination error portion of this price appears in this thread as a .jpg. attachment.

If one would like to save this dynamically changing all-inclusive U.S. Mint errors price list I would strongly suggest placing the following URL,

http://www.bestcoin.com/us-mint-err...n-prices.htm ,

within your 'favorites'.

PS:

Also, when composing any lengthy response within a CCF thread I suggest typing the verbiage within a Word document, then transfer it back to the CCF thread.

This procedure prevents the loss of time and typed information if the ‘back' arrow on the browser is accidentally clicked for any reason etc.

I have some time now, Let me try to get some better pictures uploaded.

I'm a little lost, I uploaded pictures using CCF upload tools. Do I need to store them somewhere (other than my hard drive) prior to uploading?

Copy all, I will "cut and paste" from Word. I usually do this however I was in a hurry to return to sprinkler installation folks in my yard! Nonetheless I will concede my writing is rather shoddy, even on a good day!

My guess would be some sort of very thick delamination. Normally, with a delamination, the piece of metal that comes off is very thin. As a result, some of the struck devices still show in the area left behind (though rougher, and with less detail) because striking distorts the structure of the metal inside the coin as well as the surface. The lost, delaminated piece of metal would have a backwards, incuse version of the devices on it's back side.

In this case (according to my guess), a really thick (well more than half the thickness of the coin) piece became delaminated. So the thin bit, with the reversed incuse devices, was left as part of the coin.

The letters don't match the location of the area in question. Is the rim bent outward in this area. If so it might be PMD. The collar would have prevented a bulge outward on the rim.

If this turns out to really be something and could be one of a kind why would you want to sell it on e-bay? I would get that thing to a TPG and keep it! That's just me, I am not in it for the money.
