AU55 was my first thought but the reverse would push it down to AU53 IMO. Not sure if original surfaces though.

AU55 details if that is a scratch on the obverse (looks like it).

My first thought was AU55 as well, but there does appear to be a large scratch.

Is the coin in some sort of holder ?
Rev. shows not in focus or cloudy.
Looks good to me and I concur on the higher AU grade.
If a scratch on the obv. then maybe 53. Rev. needs better pic. of the coin out in the open if it is in a holder.

I will guess AU-55 details. It appears there is a scratch and surfaces appear a bit questionable.

Your coin IS genuine, what is questionable, are the surfaces.
Most TPG's, would put a "details" grade on your coin, which means, after the problems, would be the "net" grade or, overall grade in their eyes.
The FMV of your coin would be effected.
For example, if that is a scratch, your coins value will be reduced substantially.

"Your coin IS genuine" meaning it will grade "Genuine" because of a problem, or you saying the coin itself is real?

Trace, he is saying that your coin itself is real but would not receive a grade from PCGS due to an old cleaning.

Here on the message boards, we call those coins "details" so AU-53 details would mean that your coin is authentic, has wear consistent with an AU coin, but shows evidence of any old cleaning or other surface damage.

AU-55 details. Obverse appears to have an older scratch and the surface appears to have been wiped or rubbed. Still a coin with razor sharp detail and one I wouldn't mind having.
