I can't really tell from here, but I doubt it is a cent on dime, because if it were, some of the details would be cut off since a dime blank is smaller than a cent blank.

You can use the free image optimizer and clean these puppies up before posting. Play with it a bit before posting pics next time, it's kinda fun.

Not struck on a dime planchet. Can't tell you what it is though. It almost doesn't look real.

I have to agree the diagnostics look "off". My guess is that it's lighter than a normal IHC. What does it weigh?

Its grossly underweight. I'm going with counterfeit. Are you sure this is not an 1877? Not to say that anybody wouldn't counterfeit an 1878, but it would be more common to come upon one dated 1877.

It should weigh 3.11 grams.

Just a thought. I do know of a Judd aluminum pattern IHC but that's an 1872. Hmm.
