I got a call that, someone recently deposited $550 in Ike's at my credit union. They are being held for me. I never have searched Ike's before. What should I be looking for? From doing some quick research the only silvers are the S mint marks. Anything else I should be looking for? I plan on keeping any BU/AU coins at least one per each year.

You should look for the 1972 ike's. On the reverse, the earth, at the tip of Florida there are 3 islands. On the error version, at the tip of Florida, it looks like a blob....Sort of:). Worth $50-$75
There are others on any date, like DDO and DDR and others varieties

the bicentennial was minted in '75 and '76 the R with the straight leg shows it was minted in '75 while the curvy leg means it was minted in '76,

and for those two pictures if you look at the lettering its different,

can someone correct me if I'm wrong

"Special reverses were added to all quarter dollar, half dollar, and dollar coins minted in 1975 and 1976 to celebrate the bicentennial of America's independence. In addition, the date was shown as 1776-1976 for the quarters, half dollars, and dollars minted in 1975 and 1976. There are no 1975 dated quarters, halves, or dollars.
The reverse of the Eisenhower dollar was designed by Dennis R. Williams and shows the Liberty Bell in front of the moon. His initials appear to the right below the Bell."

davesmith87, Just wanted to say to a fellow Michigander. Did you know there is a coin show coming up at the Saginaw mall on the 25th & 26th of this month?

I agree - so much more simple to tell and see at a glance.

Hi John1,

No I did not know there was something at the mall. I'll be checking it out. It's only a few miles from my house.

On the '75 and '76 with the R, is one more valuable then the other?

I guess it helps to work for the credit union. I'm the system admin and I always pick up pennies/nickes, so when unique things comes in the tellers usually check with me.

Fun fact, for those who do not know... Even though they are all dated 1776-1976, one can tell a 1975 Eisenhower dollar from a 1976.

All 1975 minted Eisenhower dollars have the Variety 1 reverse.
All 1976 minted Eisenhower dollars have the Variety 2 reverse.

This is confirmed by what is found in the respective mint and proof sets for those years.
