Hey all, anybody know of any stores in the Gold Coast region that sell banknotes...both Australian and foreign? I found one in southport in a basement of a house but that's it. Or if anyone on here has any 1992 and/or 2001 $5 notes they are willing to sell that live in the area? I don't need UNC ones and the prices in stores and even on ebay are more than what I wanna pay :)

Sap may be able to help on this one, he doesn't live too far away from this area.

I went to the Gold Coast two years ago. I could only find one "dealer" in the yellow pages. I went to the address: in a residential area - it looked like a KGB training facility, so I took my kids to Movie World, again ...

LOL! Yeah that 8 Meron street was pretty sketchy, not gonna lie. He was a nice enough guy and all but all the notes were outta my budget. I drove around the block 3 times staring at my GPS before I figured out it was in his basement. I had a bad feeling and wasnt going to go in but I thought about all the fuel and time I used to get there I wasn't going back home lol

Yep, I'm afraid that if you want a walk-in brick-and-mortar shop-front coin store, the closest one to the Gold Coast that I'm aware of is VPcoins at Mount Gravatt, Brisbane southside.
I've met the GCC&S guy at coin shows here in Brisbane, and bought stuff off him. His prices are a little high, but the quality is good.

Yeah, hard to find first time around,Ebay is still the best for lower grade notes, you just have to put a lot of time in trawling for the bargains, the higher grades are best purchased from a main stream auction house IMO. I haven't been there for a couple of years but have purchased bits & pieces from him in the past, seems OK.The last time I was there he was telling me about fake sunken ship salvage coins, where will it all end.

I was also confused by that one in the bottom storey of a house. There was a jewellers at Pacific Fair that used to sell coins and notes but they haven't for a good while now. Pawn shops are also an option if you're desperate.

Ok my only complaint regarding Gold Coast coins is that he knows how to charge. But really can I complain about that, nope I don't think so. His knowledge and stock I've seen are exceptional. If there is a high grade rare that you need, there is a good chance that he will have it. Also he is one of the few websites that I'd be comfortable buying that 32 Florin from.
All that said though, he is not my first store to call. That goes to Peter and Hugh in Adelaide st Brisbane.
