After coming back from a long absence from coin collecting I have revisited why I like it so much. I have respect for each and every coin that is struck with each incredible detail and content. While going over e-bay and the CCF auctions it became apparent that even though I am starting my coin collection over again I want to collect one coin from each denomination and from each different era. But it is apparent that the Indian Head penny has struck me as the coin I will persue for a complete collection. Of course I have none at this moment, but I am always on the look out for them and the grade I like. John

I think you made a great choice. The coins are out there with only a few being really high dollar for a quality specimen. I picked up these 2 for $10 off craigslist last year

John, back. I began my collecting journey 4 years ago wanting to do the same thing... collect every different type of US coin. I also, got side-tracked by the IHCs. But my latest and strongest collecting desire so far has been Civil War & Store / Merchant tokens. There is SO MUCH history behind them... and they're so neat . Good luck on your collecting goals!

There's no coin on Earth I like more than a Morgan dollar. Or maybe a Bust Half. Or maybe 18th Century Russian copper. O LOOK! A SHINY OBJECT!

The "'ve" is an abbreviation of 'have'.

back Your choice of Indian cents is a good one. Lots of great condition ones for a decent price. Not sure if you have any coin shows where your at but if so, you just have to go to them. As for my favorite, it's the Mercury dime.

Interesting to see an IHC set where the missing coin is the 1909s and not the 1877

I also love the IHC and would recommend the Whitman book on FE Cents and Indian Head cents by Rick Snow and Q.David Bowers, really a great value, with info on every single date along with prices (may be outdated) varieties and a cool synopsis of the goings on of that year in general. Also check out Rick's website http://www.indiancent.com Eagle Eye is his company, he is a friend and a great guy plus he always has the most amazing IHC for sale.

jfransch, only reason I got the 77 is that I am selling a collection on consignment. When I found that in a roll, I said this will be the payment for the rest of the collection. She agreed. Otherwise, BOTH of those holes would be open. LOL

Very nice, smokeriderdon. Hope my IHC collection looks like that one day. I still have quite a few holes left to fill.

Smokeriderdon, If I had that IHC board it would look similar but even stanger. I also need the 09-S but the only other blank spot is in 1876 not 1856

Smokeriderdon, Very nice collection of IHC's. I wish the my finances would let me go nutz and fill the whole book in a short time. We will see. I am going to buy a new digital camera so I can start posting pics of what I get going forward. Thanks everyone for your posts.

John, in higher grades the earlier ones CAN be expensive. Just take your time and get the coins you really want. There is a whole back story to that collection... https://goccf.com/t/128580Paddy, you have an 1856 FE? Did you post about it before?
