I got too antsy waiting around for the new Dansco 7070 to be released and wanted my coins to be easily looked at. So, I decided to store my US Type set in 2x2 flips and put each flip in a 20-slot album page. I created some custom label pages to put in clear full-page sleeves that lay open to the opposite of each coin page. The nice part is that I was able to customize the US Types to my own liking, adding the modern series.

Please take a look at my five custom pages below and let me know if you have suggestions for additional coins to add (no rarities that cost in excess of $500-1000 please)

Caveat, I still need to double check my spelling and date ranges as well... let me know if you see any blatant errors.

I think this is going to be nice!

Other than the absence of the ASE and Commemorative Dollar slots that are in the 7070, I do not see any immediate errors. However, I only gave it a quick look.

Ah yes, I forgot about those two. Do they even make 2x2 flips large enough for an ASE?

Good question. I do not think they do. You can leave that one out, but a commemorative dollar is a must.

When I went to buy flips for ASEs, I was told they do not make a 2X2 b/c the ASE is too large. So I got a few that are slightly larger than 2X2s.

I like you project and think that it will look nice. Please share pics when you have it put together.

Nice job on the layout ... I see no obvious errors ..

Encourage you to visit the CCF US Commemorative forum where you can view examples of the tremendous works of coinage art that make up what you call this "Subset" in your collection.

Thanks, Earle! I suppose I could put an ASE in an airtite and slip it into a coin page. We'll see. That's the nice part of a custom album, I can change the labels whenever & however I want.

I will definitely post pictures of this once I get everything assembled! All the coins from our recent trade will be on display here!

I've hung around that subforum, and I actually already purchased two Proof commemoratives for my type set: 1982 George Washington and 1986 Statue of Liberty. I labeled it "Subset" thinking it would help a non-coin-nerd realize there are way more than four commemorative halves in existence. Maybe my title isn't the best...

I like this :)

Think I'll do the same. Been wanting to put together a type set from my granddad's coins. Many holes will be empty. Making an album like this-- don't have to have holes.

If anybody is interested, PM me and I'll gladly email you the MS Word document of the above template for your own use. I have a grand total of like $8 invested into this solution including all of the clear pages & 2x2 flips.

I'm on business travel this week so my replies may be delayed.

ASE's will fit Into the clear flips, and then fit into the 2X2 pages. That is how I have some.
