1886-P Really a beautiful coin, although a high mintage one. I'm thinking of sending it in to Anacs, but not sure. Thoughts on grade?

i could see it, a couple scratches but I don't think it would be anything less than mint state 65

The surfaces look to be relatively mark-free. How is the luster?

I dont have as much experience grading morgans, but this coin looks like it has seen a little circulation. the luster on the obverse appears to be broken up. there also appears to be a little circulation wear on the tips of the wings. this year typically has sharp strikes and based on this, the weakness in the hairlines may also be from circulation. I'm going AU58

Could be , no gouges or really bad bag marks. Some of the shiny patches kind of look cleaned or buffed though. Congrats @panzaldi on 500th post.

I'm going AU58 That's always the risk. That some contact marks on the high spots of the coin will be interpreted as wear. Let's see. I'm tending to have it TPG graded

I'm also in the AU58 camp. There appears to be slight wear.

I'll chew on my underwear if that gets a MS65 ! Don't get me wrong she's a beauty but 65 ? Nope, it's not there. For one the major distracting mark on the neck in addition to the majority of the obverse having discoloration from (imo) rubbing. It has the appearance of three sets of luster, so at one point it had to have been wiped/rubbed or something similar. However if you went with SGS it's a MS68 or 69 for sure. Just sayin ! Have a happy day !

What a total slider. Reverse looks MS, obverse is what ANACS thinks it is. Pro tip: Have a look at VAMworld for the VAM-1E series.

It's a tough call on Morgans that are toned like this, especially from photos. You've got the best view with the coin in hand. If you really submit it to ANACS, be sure and get the VAM number on the label. I agree with Ddave on the attribution.

With the lack of luster if that be the case MS63/64 but it the coins defense it is a nice looking Morgan never the less. Is this coin starting or is it toned. Just curious.

I think it likely grades at least a MS-65. Beautiful coin!

I'll vote for MS65 as well. Submit it though and lets see.
