Unless we missed something offensive in the meanwhile,it seems frank and open discussion of counterfeits is not welcome.

Fuzzy - How is the review going? I am very curious to know more about one of my main suppliers and the possible sale of replica coins. I certainly hope that this discussion will be allowed to go on.

It is being reviewed by a different moderator, and I believe they are waiting on some other information.

I doubt it will be last you hear of this, and I am not referring specifically to this forum... Once Mikey gets his teeth into something... he makes a pit bull with lock jaw look bad!!

@ artdio, that's a medal not a coin as there is no face value. (of course, I am being a tad picky) I remembering seeing it (or one like it) on an episode of Pawn Stars. Regardless of what you may have heard on Pawn Stars (season 5, episode 43, "That Sinking Feeling"), the medal isn't worth tens of thousands of dollars. Most go for a couple dozen or so. The fella on the show should have taken Rick ("The Spotter") Harrison up on his offer of $100. True, it was a rather common British propaganda copy worth maybe $50 (though oddly enough, it was one of the scarcer British pieces with the month spelled "MAI" in German), but certainly not the $150 that Rick mentioned. Though he had many of his other facts right, Rick was also wrong when he said the German ones were made of bronze and the British of iron and that one could tell the difference this way, because Goetz also used iron like the British for some varieties, so a genuine Goetz can either be magnetic or not. http://www.lusitaniamedal.com/

The 'Pawn Stars' people always inflate their prices on everything.... makes for good television.

I'm always amazed how they have all these 'experts' hanging around just waiting for a phone call to come and appraise something.
