It is very hard to find pleasing examples of Liberty Cap Half Cents but I've finally taken the plunge. What do you think of this new addition to my type set?

VF-20 or 25, I have no idea how to grade these ones.

Quote: Cohen 5. is it the a or b type? The NGC holder says C-5a. I don't know whether that is a particularly desirable variety. Quote: looks like it has a clip too. Good eye Raymo! NGC also designated it as a clipped planchet.

That's a good looking coin Jaobler! Very hard to find these problem free nowadays.
The planchet irregularity as well as the clip, makes this one very nice coin :-)

I think it is a very interesting variety. The 1 is punched with the letter I, which makes it a C5. The weight would be 84 grains which makes it an a. The b was struck on a cut down large cent planchet.

Fantastic addition! The clip is very interesting. I don't see enough of these to grade with any consistency though bunch that bobby131313 posted a while has helped. I'll throw out an EF-40 and see where it lands.

I'm going to guess they gave it an EF40. Very interesting .5 cent!

I'm pretty happy with this coin, as it's been a long search for an attractive Liberty Cap for my set. I see nothing to make me disagree with NGC's grade of XF-40. Thanks for all your comments!

I was at VF30 but I've been working on EAC grading for awhile now, EAC standards seem to be pretty tough on grades. This beauty has EF details for sure. Great looking coin, a proud addition to any EAC collection, especially with all the interesting stuff going on, clean surfaces (very hard to find today), the clip, slightly better variety.
