Finally found out what is in the Whitman 20th and 21st Century type set versus what is in just the 20th century one. Been looking for months as I bought my little boy the 20th century and was trying to decide if I wanted to get that one for my new baby or get the 20th and 21st one.

Ok so the 20th century has 39 slots and the 20th and 21st century has 40 slots so it only gained one slot.

Additions to the new set with 21st century
2009, Lincoln Cent: Centennial
2010-date, Lincoln Cent: Shield reverse

2004-2005, Jefferson nickel: Westward Journey
2006-date, Jefferson nickel: Return to Monticello

1999-2008, Washington Statehood Quarter
2009, Washington Territorial/DC Quarter
2010-2021, Washington National Parks Quarter

2000-2008, Sacagawea dollar
2009-date, Native American dollar
2007-date, Presidential dollar

So that is an additional 10 coins but they only added one spot so what did they take away it looks like they did away with all the varieties to not increase the size of the set.

Retractions from the 20th Century set
1909, Lincoln Cent: VDB

1913, Buffalo nickel: Type 1
1938-1965/1966-date Jefferson nickel (down to one spot 1938-2003, this was an odd addition anyways as the Nickel didn't change in 1966)

1916-1917, Standing Liberty quarter: Type 1
1976, Washington Bicentennial Quarter: Silver Clad

1976, Kennedy Bicentennial Half: Silver Clad

1971, Ike dollar: Silver Clad
1976, Ike dollar: Type 2 (went to just one 1976 dollar)
1976, Ike dollar: Silver Clad

I don't know I kind of like the 20th Century set better and its clearly a more valuable set with additions of the T1 Standing Liberty quarter, T1 Buffalo, VDB Lincoln and all the extra silver varieties (4 in total). I mean the Jefferson was always odd and I just put a modern one in that 1966-date spot anyways. I like the additions though but a lot of them are odd to have just one year additions plus I have done sets for some of those (statehood, National Parks, Presidential, Sacagawea and Native American dollars or 5 of the additions).

The new set just looks like they tried to make it a cheaper set to do and took out a lot of the nicer varieties.

Why does the 20th century set have a spot for 1938-1965 Jefferson and then one for 1966 to date?

I don't like that they took away the Type 1 Buffalo and SLQ spots in the 21st century set.

No idea why they did that with the Jefferson it was kind of an odd thing to begin with maybe to fill up the page. It seems like they took away all the fun varieties and really cheapened the set. The set really wasn't that expensive to begin with and with the exception of the T1 SLQ all the coins were under $40 in good condition and nice grades. The new set is kind of a cheap set taking out any variety worth money for modern coinage.
Rest in Peace

I know they don't list it on their site, but if you call the customer service number they will email you the slots for each of their albums. I have it on the computer at work but not at home...

These are pretty interesting set.

If I was not into having Dansco albums I think I would like to put some of these together.

I think I decided I will do another 20th century for my other little boy (almost have the first set done for my oldest boy just 8 more spots to go with needing a Peace dollar and the T1 Standing Liberty as the most valuable) and then I will do a 20th and 21st century for me to go with my 7070. I can do the 20th and 21st century easily in high grade MS for every coin as there isn't a single killer in there like the 20th century (the T1 standing Liberty that heck my 7070 only has a VF 30 in it right now).
