i have been saving all the UNC ones I find since I began finding them earlier this year. now I got around 5 rolls of UNC 2013 D cents from circulation so far and I am wondering if I should even bother saving anymore. am I the only one that is saving these? I got 4 real nice ones today that gleamed like gold coins, what a cheap thrill 4 cents can make...

The only reason to save them is for your enjoyment. I support saving them. Someone needs to do it for our future generations.
There's little to no financial incentive to do it. They make over a billion of these things each year. Even 40 year old UNC rolls aren't worth much. Where are you going to be in 40 years when the 2013 UNC rolls still aren't worth much?

There's someone around here selling unc rolls of new pennies for like 25-50% over face on ebay by the case. The only possible reason to save modern pennies is if zinc suddenly shoots up in price. I've seen countless zinc pennies that are disintegrating while still in the roll. Odds are if you leave them in the closet, you might end up with a lot of damaged pennies that might not even be worth face value.

People are in this hobby for a variety of reasons. Largely, what to do with 2013 cents is a personal decision. I'm a cent coin roll hunter. Whenever I come across a tight roll of 'bank wrapped' 2013s, I keep them--most of them anyway. Why? Not because they'll be $50 each in six years, but for two reasons: 1) I like having a modest stash of new 'bank wrapped' cent rolls over the years, and 2) someone 75 years from now may come across some of my rolls and say "...cool!" It's all about personal choice. There is no hard formula for what's correct in this hobby and not. Toss them? Okay. Keep some? Okay.

in 60 years most will have just rotted away I have a feeling that saving 10 rolls of each year and mint then vacuum sealing it will pay off for your grand kids big time!

Most dates get saved in huge numbers because they are so remarkably inexpensive. But remember some dates get overlooked and it might not be known for decades. Also some dates have horrible quality problems so they nice examples are already tough and no one knows. Some early zincolns had plating problems so most have rotted away.
It think if someone went through a bag every year and pulled out the nicest three or four rolls they'd already be in really good shape. The '84-d and '86 go for more than $20 just for typical rolls.
There will be lots of surprises in the memorial cents because they aren't all as common as the perception and some are a little elusive just in nice attractive condition.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

@mcshilling I would save 2013 P cents but here in CA the only ones I ever find are D
Also, seems like I missed the boat on saving UNC memorials, so I figure I might as well start with the shields. since I still find 10, 11, 12 and 13 in UNC commonly. although the '10 shields are getting harder to find in UNC
And to date, I have never gotten a fresh bank wrapped roll of cents of any year at face. all I get at my bank is the "mix" rolls.

I can't see anybody collecting the shield pennies though. The detail is just terrible. Every one I've seen looks Struck Through Grease and with cheap looking font, and about 10% have damage already, even in mint rolls. The likely scenario is rarity through attrition, not through collectability.

I keep all pennies I happen to get. Doesn't matter where there from or what year I'll keep them.

I do because there are many other things I can't afford! Gotta keep your collector side happy however you can!

I put together one roll. That's good enough for me.

Don't have that many, perhaps a roll or two of the nicer ones I've seen in my change. Cheap thrills I guess, probably not a financially rewarding thing to do considering inflation.

I started in 2009 saving the nicest ones that I get in change until a get 1 roll of each (pennies, nickels, and dimes). All I ever get is P mints though. Pennies are easy to get (except the 2009's). I still don't have complete rolls of some dates. But I do it for fun. Some day someone will appreciate them.

Maybe in a few hundred years they will be worth something more than a Cent. I'll wait and see.
