Very, sad story.
He will be caught and will hopefully get the most severe sentence possible.

Ultimate penalty. This kind of crap continues until there are real consequences.

@Mraderm Unfortunately victims like this are not just victims of the perp pulling the trigger, but also of the lawmakers who removed the ultimate penalty. The bad part about all of this is that half of the guilty party is impossible to trace/bring to justice.
You would think that history would have taught us enough lessons about not keeping the punishment on an equal par with the crime. Will we ever learn? Probably not. More innocents will die b/c too many people feel sorry for the criminals who do this type of heinous act, and tons more of our tax money will be used to give people like this free HBO, gyms, food, etc. for the few years they will spend in jail before being released (on good behavior) to kill again.

If the death penalty deters crime, it didn't deter this one. Not in North Carolina.

That is terrible. I offer my heartfelt condolences to those effected by this senseless killing. I'm a strong death penalty supporter myself (and often study it)but I feel like we need the full story before deciding, it could be a serial armed robber career criminal who has killed lots of others in his crime spree w/o any regard for human life or it could be some 18 year old kid who never meant to actually hurt someone and freaked out/panicked for some reason and made the biggest mistake of his life. Yes, he needs to pay regardless, but how severe that punishment is isn't black and white/cut and dry.

Supposedly he only opened his store up for a few hours a week and only allowed people who had an appointment in....or people he knew, Very unfortunate. This shop is about an hour from me....and this is the first time I heard of it. definitely a sad day.

So sad to hear. Its really a shame that being a coin dealer/collector can make oneself such a large target for lowlifes.

I blame gold/silver prices. Something small that is valuable makes for a bigger target. I always get nervous carrying more than 1/4 ounce of gold or 20 ozt silver. 16 ozt is only 1 pound, but thats 20k of gold. I feel safer with my clad proofs. A whole box is maybe $200.
