Ex: John Jay Pittman Collection. This piece, from the Pittman Collection is totally original with wonderful rose-gold toning over lustrous. Pittman purchased this piece in 1958 from Shroyer for the amount of $1,716. Everyone who collects Canadian coins aspires to own a 1921 50 Cent. Few collectors ever have the opportunity, and fewer still can say that have owned a legendary coin such as the John Jay Pittman example. Unpriced in Trends above Uncirculated. According to today's market, this Canadian rarity should be listed at around $300,000.00 in Gem UNC.

Really? Start the auction at a penny with no reserve and let's see how far it goes.

My goodness, what an amazingly poor auction entry. You'd think such an important coin would warrant a little more care.

"Hey, Bernie, take a pic of this with your iPhone"

Hmmm. Could get yourself an around-the-world trip with Aeroplan on the credit card purchase. LOL

We down here in the States used to think the 1933 Double Eagle was a pretty rare bird, until 10 of them miraculously appeared. Rumor has it there are more of them out there.

Wasn't that from a vault of a dealer who acquired them allegedly illegally? The family tried to get the right to sell them from the estate, but they are currently in Ft. Knox awaiting a court ruling.

Boy, I better watch myself or I might get banned. I don't think it's that unusual for a person to be fascinated with a particular coin and join this forum when they see a topic about it; that's pretty much what I did. I read those previous threads and I'm not sure why coinsarethebest got that kind of treatment here.

Or they are hoping someone buys the holder/story. I haven't seen this piece in hand. But regardless of how that mark got there, a mark of that size in a prime focal area should preclude it from MS65.

Poker..., thats why I brought up the mark earlier on... I'm 100% sure if you or I submitted that coin it would never get MS 65....

I would think they only post this on the bay to let people know
they have it? Someone interested with that kind of dough wouldn't they fly in
and personally view and buy?

The best part about it is the seller's commission to the tune of a whopping $250.00.

This coin is not actually MS-65 right? The ding by the nose and the fingerprint say a lot...

fredor, that's also my question.
Does the raity of this coin give the ICCS grader a chance to be biased? The same coin in the same condition minted in 2013 might not even get a MS 64 or AU 59. Who knows if the prints are old fingerprints.
