With the amount of TPG companies popping up all over the world, surely this has had an impact on PCGS. I'm just wondering if a big company like they are maybe forced to downsize in years to come.

None of those "TPG's", even the serious ones (of which there are few), are going to seriously impact PCGS. The current customer demographic is overwhelmingly American - slabbing is not very popular anywhere else. PCGS and NGC are expanding internationally as fast as they can, and as the 800lb gorillas in the industry, with commensurate name recognition, if they're available in your area you're far more likely to use them because of the resale value they impart. I don't see the TPG contenders lasting another decade as they are, but it's not going to be competition which makes the change.

The downfall of the TPG's will be shady deals and questionable commercial partnerships. I also feel that this wave of new collectors (re:stackers) will not last. I have seen it many times in other hobbies, new people come in, thinks become a fad, new shows, new magazines, prices skyrocket, sub-catagories appear (MS70), all but the core-base get bored and move on. TPG's will always be around, to authenticate and add value to core numismatics, but the graded bullion, the different labels, the "manufactured" rarities, will not last the test of time.

Believe all TPG's are their own worst enemy. Especially when to do the "bulk" grades on large amounts of coinage. Case in point "Omaha Hoard".

NGC and PCGS will always be around. They are the two best TPGs

In general, deadwood eventually sorts itself out and falls by the wayside. That might actually help the more stable companies in the long run.

Absolutely. No doubt. I suspect your country is square in their sights, as well; Aussie collectors are dedicated. But the winner between the two - and mark my words, only one of PCGS or NGC will exist in ten years - will be the one who exploits the Far East more effectively.

The only thing they have to be careful about is trying to open in a country that has already got an established TPG as it could end badly trying to compete against a business that actually based in that country and all funds stay in the country and not shipped offshore.

It's all about the "new money" crowd. As emerging markets develop and the newly wealthy need a place to spend their money if it happens to be on coins and they want to have bragging rights it will be on top shelf MS coins from their country and history. But I guess oil money goes for custom cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyIK8uuNEcw
