Right side is the fake..the field doesn't look right and the E Plurbis banner doesn't look right. But I'm not a bullion guy but in hand I could figure it out

Um...I don't collect these so I am shooting from the hip...I will go off of the quality of the strike. The one of the right has a double rim going and mushy details..also I don't see much reeding on the right...so I am sayng the right is fake. I wish I could see the front of both of them cause that would help.

with everybody else, the luster does not look right.
I would love to get exact dimensions, exact weight, s.g. test and comparative ring tone test, and to examine it with a 20x loupe, and closely compare in details with known genuine.

XRF may not be of much help; I would expect that it is pure silver plated.

Doesn't the West Point Mint make just proofs? And the one on the right doesn't look like a proof to me plus if you were going to counterfeit a silver eagle, you might as well put a "W" on it to make it worth a little more.

Yeah Fuzzy, you're right, I just looked it up. Still going with the right one though.

Everything about the one on the right screams fake.

.. The font is not a Mint used font
.. the spacing between the font and rim is off
.. the strike is weird
.. the dots at 3/9 o'clock are too fat
.. having it in a different sized capsule makes it look smaller but I think it is probably the same size.
.. and..it just looks fake
.. it would have been helpful to see the obverse since it has the 2006/7 round bottom "U" font. A different date would have confirmed the fake
.. it is illegal to possess since it does not have "copy" stamped on it so I wouldn't want to let on that you own it (unless you made it yourself).

Since most fakes come from China your forum name is quite appropriate

Honestly, I do not see how that would pass. It screams fake. The font is wrong, the eagle is wrong. The stars are wrong. Really, just wrong all around.

Look at DOLLAR--US Mint products never look that bad.

Is that a fair question without knowing the weight of each? If the weight for both is the same then they are both 1 oz of silver. The smelter furnace won't know the difference when we get back to $40 oz silver!
