I've saw a few thread discussing about this but not a comprehensive thread so I want to put them all here. I hope this will help new members or those that have not aware of this: Lowest FINAL mintage (no longer available via Mint's website) - still affordable on ebay though: 2013 5-STAR GENERALS CLAD PROOF: 37,338 2013 5-STAR GENERALS CLAD UNC : 27,168Potentially Lowest mintage (number sold as of Feb. 16, 2014): 2013 PROOF SET : 784,995 (compare to 2012 @ 794,002). Note: Here is the number sold each week since Jan 5th, 2014: 4,075 / 1,988 / 1,293 / 1,844 / 2,625 / 2,747 2013 UNC SET : 353,227 (compare to 2012 @ 392,224). Note: Here is the number sold each week since Jan 5th, 2014: 822 / 846 / 532 / 1,084 / 307 / 1,401 2013 AM EAGLE SILVER UNC 1 OZ (burnished): 179,048 (compare to 2012 @ 230,872, excluding the Annual Unc $1 Set). Note: This coin is still available via 2013 Annual $1 UNC SET, which as of Feb 16th have sold 30,949 set; bringing the total of burnished -W ASE to 209,890. The weekly selling rate for the Annual $1 Unc set since Jan 5th, 2014 is: 443 107 252 584 556 1,540 Finally, according to the website Mint News Blog, the Native American Dollar coin will have the lowest mintage for the Native American dollar Series. The mintage is comparable to the 2008 Sacagawea mintage (less than 4 millions total). Both the P and D coins are still available in rolls of 25 coins (all the bag options are sold out). Since it's almost the end of February, the mint may decide to end any of the above mentioned coins anytime; so, make sure you buy them now and don't wait. Have fun. For the 5-Star General half dollars, I think you forgot to add the mintage's from the 2013 5-Star Generals Profile Collection (5G8) = 10,929 and 2013 5-Star Generals Commemorative Coin Program Three-Coin Proof Set (5G7) = 9,999.
UNC = 38,097 Proof = 47337
They are not the lowest, but came close.

Think of these pieces as "coined in a sufficient number" to meet demand. Demand is incredibly low.

Unfortunately the 2013 silver proof set is not a record. 419,623 compared to 395,443 for the 2012 set.

So the fact that nobody wants them , makes them collectible now ?

denco, that's exactly what I was thinking. Perhaps future collectors will bump up the demand - call it a delayed reaction.

Early Silver Commemorative series is the perfect example......
I am not advocate flipping. I just think sometime it's worth while to buy a few extra. Each to each of his/her own.

As was mentioned in a post above, just having low numbers does not make a series collectable..modern commems are a perfect example. Not very many go anywhere in price Having low numbers with a popular series is another thing altogether. The silver proof sets and the W ASE are perfect examples. The 2013 W ASE has GREAT potential and is still available in the dollar set. The LE Silver proof set is another still available set that will have the 2nd lowest minted proof Kennedy half and Roosie dime...the 2012 being slightly lower One correction in your stats: Quote: 2013 AM EAGLE SILVER UNC 1 OZ (burnished): 179,048 (compare to 2012 @ 230,872, excluding the Annual Unc $1 Set). The 2012 number should be 198,820 if you exclude the dollar set. Add the dollar set to both to compare equallty the total numbers of the W. The 2013 presently is at 209,917 vs. 230,872 for 2012 Here's a prior thread about the 2013 W: https://goccf.com/t/165794

Thank you Foxwoodman, your posts are always informative and add value to the thread. There are some new update on the number of some of the coin on Mint News Blog: http://mintnewsblog.com/2014/02/us-...ed-mintages/Particularly: 2012-W Burnished final mintate (including the dollar set): 226,120. 2011 Uncirculated Silver Eagle: 309,884 2011 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set: 99,882 2012 San Francisco Silver Eagle Set: 224,935 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set: 44,952 Also, with 2014 will have the Kennedy half dollar commemorative program, this will attract more potential collectors to this series, which should add more demand to the 2012-S silver Kennedy Proof. Note to self: I need to get the 2012-S Silver Proof set and/or the 2012 LESP set before price keep on climbing.

I had a Duh moment in 2012...the only year I decided NOT to buy my normal 5 silver sets....I just bought two LE silver sets instead.... I did get 5 of the 2013's and just bumped my 2013 LE's to four ordered Expanding on your reporting the 99,882 final mintage of the 25th Annie set...that S mintmark MS coin is a gem in the making. Granted it has already been selling for $220-250 in MS69 for awhile but this is the lowest burnished ASE ever...hands down...if you can grab any on the "cheap" then grab 'em

Any guess on which of the above mentioned coins will be "SOLD OUT" next? The selling rate on some of these set is very low.... what's the determining factor for the mint to end a product?

No, it makes them collectible later. Numbers like this override my derision for most Moderns. Mintages of less than 100k will be solid investments if you can keep them in the family for a couple of generations. Coin collectors used to get that; instant gratification is creeping even into our great hobby these days. No Modern achieves instant stardom. It was near a hundred years before a Morgan dollar was worth much. Low-mintage Mint stuff, especially silver, will appreciate nicely if you've got the long view.
