Thanks for the quick response on the 1861 half, ground recovery from Feb 1st of this year. This Vermont copper, found about 3yrs back, may present a grading challenge. Recovered from a federal era foundation site along with 23 other pre-1819 coins. If there is another place to post these let me know Thanks.

I know nothing when it comes to these sorts of coins but I couldn't see better than a G4 to 6 imo. I don't even know if that line across the middle is damage or meant to be there. Sorry I'm not being of any help.
I'm sure we have much cleverer and better coin graders than me.

Real quick attempt By the 6 in the date I would say Miller 5.8-H.2. Connecticut not Vermont. Rarer variety but severly hampered by the verdigris.

The 6 is the giveaway. I agree with vinnie. Miller 5.8-H.2 and yes Connecticut.
I'd say near VF details.

Maybe a nice long soak in Verdi-Care might help a little bit, though I'm afraid it won't cure it's ails completely, this one has been buried too long.

Nothing is going to make that coin look any better. The damage is already done. Nice coin, enjoy it for what it is.
