I thought it was a MS66 up for auction, it's actually a MS67. Still, it's hard to believe that this will go any higher, but what do I know?

> I understand that the original discoverer of the variety checked a very very large number before announcing the find.
How many dealer hoards of these would exist to check? I can't imagine someone checking "a very very large number" without people catching on.
Ignore the man with the magnet behind the curtain.

WOW!! Looks like a couple of buyers duked it out on the auction floor. $19,250 + the fees. With the exception of the 1936 dot, I am not aware of a small cent ever selling at that price!
Solidifier, still have one to sell at $1500?

Wow.
Not a variety. Not a business strike. An NCLT planchet error.
Fools and their money.

If a second one sells at around the same price it will set market price. Someone should consign one to the RCNA in August.

dialog_gvf, I completely agree. This is a planchet error, and does not even have the same eye-appeal as other off-metal planchet errors...
But - this should make the Canadian Coin News headlines, and no doubt, we'll see a few more come out of the woodwork because of this auction...

Yeah. At least some off-metal are clearly visibly different.
Given the choice, would people really choose an 2005 NCLT penny over a MS-60 1921 5c?
I guess the bidders already each have one.

I guess the MS-66 on ebay for $23,500 US is now not as insane as it had been. But, given only supposedly 4-5 exist, isn't it odd for two to be available?

Any idea who might be the new owner? Does anyone have results from 2014 ICCS pop report?

Seeing new listings on ebay of new uncertified 2005P NON Mags,my crystal ball sees a market correction on the $19,250 to $1925.0 in a matter of time.
