Poll Question
I have two coins that fit in the same slot, Seated dime, No Drapery, and one needs to go to another collector. They both have their pluses, but I am having a hard time deciding which one gets to stay.

I am requesting your opinion as to which one you would keep.

Thank you for your interest!

They both have their odd features, but I think the 1839 has better eye appeal and I find O/O RPM more interesting than DDR

I prefer the toning on the 1838 although I agree with Fuzzy that the O/O is the more interesting variety.

Something that does not help the RPM is that it is not a Trueview image.
Rest in Peace

If I were still adding to my collection I would advise you to sell the 1838 - - - to me. My first quick look I liked the 39 with it's smooth gray tones. Then I looked at the higher res pics. The 39 has some black spots in front of the lady and above "TATES OF AM". Went to the 38 and . The mottled toning gives it great eye appeal IMHO and I bet it looks even better in hand.

1838 for eye appeal by a mile. But I am not a varieties collector, so the O/O doesn't matter to me, even though I agree it is cool.

The 1838 is more appealing to me, but I like nice toning.

I chose the 1839 because it has a nice circulated look. I also think New Orleans minted dimes are tougher to find in higher grades because they circulated extensively.

For me the 38 is the clear winner for a type set, but on the other hand if you're building a New Orleans type....

The 1838 wins due to the awesome toning on it. Were they of equal coloration, then I would say the 39 because I love New Orleans coins.

I really like the eye appeal of the 1838 based on the photos. If it were me though, I would probably keep both of them
