That's absolutely awful, Cmcart. People will not stop at anything to gain a little money. Is there any writing on the envelop that would indicate its contents to thieves? You know, bill, banknote, money, currency, etc? Just wondering; was the package insured?

Insurance = $ 50 - The run after it will cost to me over $ 50 lol
Nothing written on the envelope that contains is money - when you touching the envelope,you feel the cardboard pages which protect the note!

Unfortunately this has happened to me twice in the last 2 years, thanks to the mail handlers at USPS! Both were coin purchases through ebay that were mailed with bubble wrap mailer envelopes.

At least I hope the guy who stole this doesn't spend it for face value. It hurts thinking about a lovely serial being spent :(

And this here is the reason I don't trust people anymore.
This reminds me of once, around Christmas time, we taped envelopes with Dunkin Donuts gift cards on our trash cans as a gift to the garbage collectors. Not even an hour later, the envelope disappeared. My dad found it a couple of houses down the street with the holiday card intact, minus the gift cards.
The lengths to which people will go really disgusts me sometimes.
And the fact that they actually bothered to stop and check it. Seriously?

According to the image that was removed because of the address, that was registered mail. That's incredibly scary since registered is the safest way to ship with the USPS.

I remember viewing the image also prior to being removed, showing that it was "Registered", and my question would be;
"Why did the person (assuming it was a Postal Employee) that delivered this Registered Envelope to it's listed address, and seeing it was tampered with, not first report it to his/her Local Post Master before delivery?"...
If this were me, I would be speaking with the Post Master in person with envelope in hand.

The OP is in Israel. Once registered mail leaves its country of origin it is no longer handled as registered mail. Registered mail sent to another country is asking to be stolen in the destination country. In the last year I have had five items not arrive that were sent registered mail into the US from other countries. Not a single item sent regular mail has ever gone missing. That is one of the problems with ebay's system. In orfer to get seller protection you have to send registered mail but sending registered mail overseas increases the odds of it being stolen in the system.

I agree, it has to stay in Country otherwise it becomes just a first class package.

Quote: The OP is in Israel. Once registered mail leaves its country of origin it is no longer handled as registered mail I remember taking a quick glance and noticed it was registered, not noticing it was out of the States. I sold my last coin on ebay back in April 2006, and used Global Priority for all overseas transactions. I recently used ebay to purchase 2 error notes and can't believe the changes they made since 2006... I was considering going back on ebay to sell again, and find it impossible for PayPal to re-open my account without me first giving them access to my bank account information. For some reason paypal claims I had exceeded their $10,000.00 Limit when I was registered with them and can only use their service with my banking info on file.. Lessons were learned 8 years back when both accounts were hacked into, I wouldn't trust any Internet site with my personal bank account information, at-least with a credit card you have some protection... I thank the sellers that take c/cards & money orders.

You might get lucky that some knuckle Head might try and sell it on ebay or another site. I would notify them and see what happens. Will be on the lookout for it.
