Quote: WOW! Nice find, it makes it much more rare indeed. COOL@ PICS!! Here are the two I got today, not high grades but for the money I can not complain. I know my picture sucks but I have been fighting with my camera for two hours and I have had enough.

I found some more of these for sale.. Well I did some more digging on these. First ICG is not a top tier, I know this. However the one I have is very nice. Still here are some more of Accented Hair's little brother. This goes to show that they are known, attributed somewhat, and not common per se. That DCAM one is VERY nice indeed but $1200 is a bit high for me. Quote: The reverse features the "broken rays", which is the first reverse die used, but since this obverse does NOT have the Accented Hair, then this one is whats termed the "Transitional Variety". A somewhat unknown and under-appreciated variety, this one is scarce coin to come by. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Kenned...em461ee71384Quote:Ultra rare 1964 Kennedy half dollar Transitional Variety!!Super low population coin! Add in the fact that it's a Trans die Rev. and that makes this coin almost impossible to find! http://www.ebay.com/itm/WOW-1964-Ke...em2339a691adQuote: First year of issue for the Kennedy half, this particular specimen is of the scarce "Transitional Reverse" variety, and features the "broken ray" and the "straight G" that was originally paired with the Accented Hair obverse. Therefore, this coin which is not an Accented Hair, has the Accented Hair reverse, and is considered a transitional variety coin. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Kenned...em51bcc76d06

Another one to add to your list to look for. The mint issued a silver Matte Finish 1998-S with a low mintage and is the most valuable, uncertified, Kennedy half dollar.

Harvey, does yours also have the broken rays ? I've seen reverses with the strt. G with strt. rays and vice versa.

Ok I have a question and have re-read this thread several times to make sure I am understanding things correctly.. As some of you have seen my "latest acqusitions thread" you'll see that there is a photo of a 64 ACH Kennedy..I think I may have hit a jackpot here if I'm reading things correctly.. The reverse of that 64 pictured has the split line and straight G reverse matched with the ACH obverse... Is this the piece that we are thinking would be the rare piece discussed if someone was to find one?.. If so then I am the proud owner of it...

The 64 AHK has the type one reverse (rdv-001) is what he was suggesting is a AHK with RDV-002 or the type two reverse, the PUP is the star and broken rays on the type 1 and the FG doesn't has a straight G the RDV-002 is the common type reverse.. This is the type one reverse pups Not the best pic but this is RDV-002
