Judging by the other coins the Seller has listed, he needs to seriously go back to grading school.
I do not like the 2-cent piece. The color is off, the surfaces are off and the date looks funky.

Shouldn't the seller had this graded? If so would it get a details grade? Perhaps it was cracked out of a slab? It is AU and not details it is a $1400 coin according to Numismedia.

I am going to take a stab and say the 2 is wrong so the coin is wrong. (EDIT: wrong = not authentic)

My usual comment. For a coin this expensive I won't even consider it unless it's slabbed.

Reported to ebay but I doubt if it'll get taken down. I'm in the group that won't buy expensive coins unless they are in verifiable main stream slabs.

I have never seen a real 1872 with a strike like that.

IMHO, it's a fake. Initially, the surfaces raise suspicion. Then, compare the date (angled seraph on the 7) and letter style/position with this PCGS XF-45: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1872-PCGS-X...em2a3d6a07f2The seller lists a number of low end coins, and his grading suggests suspiciously little knowledge of coins. One way to market fakes is to "conceal" them among offerings of genuine, coins of marginal value. While the seller may be following the lead of a secondary consignor or else be legitimately unknowing in this case, the 1872 needs to be reported. I'll follow suit ... P.S. - Good catch, Moe145!

I would love to see what's in the collections of the people that bid on this junk.

NOT A CHANCE! Nope, not with a ten foot pole. Not even with a return privilege. Faker than Hollywood.

I like to look at feedback numbers. (these are not all transactions) Out of 223 transactions there were 10 positive from buyers and 213 positive from sellers.

I told him there are people that say this is fake and what did he have to say. he said I have shown this to NYC dealer who offered me 500 when I decided to try ebay. And to resolve , if you are in nj, you are most welcome to come and get it checked and also I will do 100% refund with shipping on me if item fake from buyers who have atleast 100 feedback min . For buyers less then 25 feedback, I will prefer no bids - newbizwizkid

Good luck with that, cipster. I've found that, even when I've sent what I've thought was a tactful message, it all too often resulted in frustration and/or aggravation. I can only imagine what response a strong message will elicit. I'm inclined to suspect that if enough of us submit a report to ebay, the sale may be cancelled "by the numbers." ebay seems to be evolving into more of a minefield each day. Warning signs are everywhere, yet many continue to tread, before studying. Bidders typically have days to watch and study prospective purchases, but impulsivity seems to override common sense. As fakes go, I'm thinking that this one is "better" than some but not as well produced as others. Obviously, it's sufficiently real looking so as to attract substantial bids. Over the years, I've seen collectors and dealers alike write off far more of a loss on a single fake than this one will fetch. Short of taking these things to heart, I'll simply do what I can to help a fellow collector.
