These are great pictures! Looks like a very old design but, as stated a new structure. Interesting topic. Austrokiwi, Should you limit the pictures to an outside view?

I like this thread idea! Next time I'm in Denver or Philly I'll grab some first-hand shots.
Does Austria have a separate facility for paper money manufacturing as the United States does or does it all happen under one roof?
How about other countries?

In Canada, the Ottawa Mint does the bullion and NCLT, the Winnipeg Mint does the circulating coins, and the Bank of Canada does the banknotes somewhere else.

Opps By "modern day" I meant the building is only a couple of hundred years old ( built early 19th century). As for paper money. I have no idea....I assume they have a separate facility.

Okay, I'm game. Here is Thailand's Royal Mint history. 1860 the first Royal Thai Mint was situated in The Grand Palace complex. Moving to Wat Phra Kaew Temple complex and now museum in 1875. Then in 1902 to what is now the National Gallery of Thailand. 1972 and a move to Padipat Road. (Sorry no picture). And finally to it's current location in 2002.

That mint in Thailand looks way too lavish for what actually goes on in there.
Question: does Thailand get their planchets from USA? I ask because of the copper clad.

Libertad, The Royal Mint is under the patronage of the King so it's got to be lavish whereas the Thai banknotes are printed elsewhere under licence so their premises are just like a typical modern complex. Planchets? I have absolutely no idea.
