Heavily worn, but the letters and dots appear to be there. The S seems strong for such a worn coin.

I think it is legit, and yes I see what appears to be a VDB. Would I buy it? NO.

As always, problem key date coins.....including this 09-SVDB on the 'bay..... are not in TPG holders because they won't slab with a legitimate grade. So, sellers try to unload their problem coins to unsuspecting souls on ebay. The Seller can grade it however he wants to. The real world says other-wise and will grade it accordingly. The Seller calls this one "very good". I call it "genuine - good details with environmental damage" (and that's being nice!).

I say plain old V.D.B. with an 'S' added much later. The wear on the date seems way off with the mint mark. Odd that the 'L' in Liberty is completely missing too. Also, details environmental damage.

I think it has a fake, added-on MM. The wear doesn't match the other areas of the coin.

I would not consider bidding on that coin.

The mintmark looks odd for being on such a worn coin. I think it is a 1909 VDB with an aded mintmark.

Looking again, I can barely make out the VDB. But that MM totally looks punched on. Aside from the wear, I can see the divot around the MM from the punch. At least that is what it looks like to me.

Not an expert to identify the markers on this coin ... do know enough to advise staying away from raw ebay key dates without such expertise in your own court. David

Yeah, too much going on around that mint mark.

Damaged 1909 V.D.B. with added S mintmark IMO, you can even see the tooling around the S.

Looking at the date, I don't know if I see a 1909 or a 1907. I downloaded the image and inverted the colors and the last digit looks more like a 7 than a 9.
I did the same with the VDB and it looks like the gap between the V and the B is larger than the gap between the B and the D. I always thought the gap was larger between the B and D, with the VDB shifted to the left of center. Is this correct?
Does anyone else see a 7 in the date?
Ben
