First of all, hello again everybody! I haven't posted in a while as I've been "off coins" this summer per an agreement with the wife, a couple of collage tuitions to pay and a busy schedule. I also turned 50 which besides confirming you're old also means it's a prudent time to reassess & update our retirement and estate plan including my coins. My wife & I had the conversation about coins and how heirs get ripped off by not knowing what they had because the collector didn't plan correctly. I explained that spending the $$$ on conservation and certification was money well spent for coins over a Certain value. For me this is really just my 56 Flying eagle, 1918/7 - - "D buffalo and a 1877 Indian. Here are the links to my posts on these coins. 56 Eagle https://goccf.com/t/1417521918/7 Buffalo https://goccf.com/t/1416321877 Indian https://goccf.com/t/141825My biggest issue with the getting a coin slabbed was the thought of mailing something I hold so dear and trusting it to the US mail or even Fed Ex so I wanted to hand deliver them. Unfortunately New England is a wasteland when it come to big shows that NGC or PCGS attend so that meant wait for October and go to the biggish Nashua NH show or a little show in MA near Worcester that an ANACS rep was going to be at. Long story short, after a great conversation with the rep, I now have 7 coins at ANACS I also brought 3 colonials and a nice 1804 Half Cent. 1788 Vermont R-16 & 1787 R-13 https://goccf.com/t/1419401787 Off Center & struck through Connecticut Miller 33.7 https://goccf.com/t/142431I will post the results when they come in. Wish me luck!! . Edited by paddy murphy 09/16/2014 11:03 am

The only thing I would be afraid of is one or more coming back as a fake. You'ld be amazed at how many times this happens. Good luck.

just carl, you cant be afraid to find out the truth. Better to know than thinking you have the real deal but don't. You may have some rebuttal if you find something is fake, and if it hasn't been to long you could go back to the source and maybe they would make it right.

Good Luck can't wait to hear what you end up with. In the future up to $50K in value, the safest way to ship is Registered Insured package. Use a small box and wrap in kraft paper or brown bag like you find at the grocery store, Cover any and all seams with Kraft tape in brown. The USPS will stamp the tape so it can't be tampered with without showing it. The package is signed in and out along every step of the way. I've shipped $100's of thousands of dollars over the years in coins this way, never had a lost package yet, nor one that was tampered with.

Good luck with your coin. The 1856 Flying Eagle is a classic rarity and your long provenance with this coin makes it doubly desirable and interesting. Hope it comes back with an acceptable grade. Best Regards, George

Good news! All of the coins submitted are genuine and only the CT error coin was given a "details" grade.
ANACS Shipped them last night and sent me an email with the results. Assuming the FedEx arrives today I'll post them in the grading forum tonight.
Additionally, I'd be remiss if I didn't take this chance to thank all of CCF for helping reignite my interest in collecting. The vast wealth of information and peoples willingness to share has been greatly appreciated. You don't often find such collegiality on-line but I must say participating in this forum has been a joy. I wish I had participated sooner.
