I started collecting last March. I originally thought I wanted to just hoard silver and gold, but I quickly became interested in old coins.

I now have a strong interest in Peace dollars. They're just my thing. I love Peace dollars.

I am also possibly taking an interest in modern Australian gold bullion coins.

Do you concentrate on particular coins, or are you into a plethora of stuff?

I stick to a certain set of countries and series' and then I just browse and buy the coins I like. I don't collect by date or variety or type.

I remember you from when I first joined this website zxcccxz.

Your avatar looks important.

Is that a dime?

Is it some rare thing?

I'm on a small phone screen, so I can't see. Lol.

I started off with bullion. Now I concentrate on pre-decimal British coins, especially pre-1914 sovereigns.

I love the fact that before 1914 the gold sovereign was an actual circulating coin so not only is each one beautiful and valuable, but it's steeped in history too.

Dave, I tried that. Then I went to the classic coin grading forum where members told me that my first classic coin buy was a cleaned piece of junk.

I then sold the coin for the exact same amount that I bought it for, and called all the members out on that fact.

We went through 5 pages of name calling and arguing before the thread was locked.

Tee hee.

Seems to change every month. Generally if it has a nice design, some silver content, and is >30mm in diameter, I'm all over it! Everytime I think I'm in to a certain coin, I get 2-3 of them and then get bored and move on. I'll never be a series collector.

I seem to be quite fond of Canadian silver dollars and bullion right now.

I like pennies, the pre-decimal ones from the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand that is. They are one of the more common finds metal detecting too so I have a large collection of them but love them all. My first ever coin I found metal detecting several years ago now was also a penny

Yes I really do have a preference in coins. I usually have my favorite ones that are round, shinny and needed to fill an album. I guess I would also like square or rectangular coins if someone made an Album for those. Same for any completely round coins. Not sure there are any though.

I originally started just collection US coins as bullion, but I steadily fell in love with Mercury dimes than all half dollars. I also inherited Morgan dollars, and once I had those in my hands I fell for them too!

I've been told I bear a resemblance to FDR, but I wouldn't say I favor the dime. Just kidding, I like small cents, modern commemorative halves, any dollar coins, and pretty much anything in between. My main collection is small cents, both US and Canadian.

Not quite as literally, but yeah, this basically.

I try to only collect the coins with inscriptions that I can read, but even that is not a hard rule ultimately.

A while back, I would've said "the 1 kopek type set", but I think I have all the affordable copper types by now, unfortunately (and it's not very clear what's a "type" when it comes to silver).

Never was interested in just one coin type or series but rather at the diversity: different denominations, different materials, different shapes, different script, different dating systems and not to forget different countries and times, ie the link to history.

I had/have a fascination with the Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar. I live about 10 miles away from the park, I have the coin as my avatar, and I have bought several. Most are raw, a few graded, and one low-ball version.
