I have looked over the internet for information but cannot find any reference to a 1921 Newfoundland 50 cent piece. Is there such a thing? Again, the coin I am curious about is a Newfoundland half dollar... not the 1921 Canadian half dollar.

I agree, the reason I'm asking is there is aa auction coming up for one. Even the auctioneer is cautious with a warning that it may be fake. I'm going to go and have a look at it this afternoon. I'll let you know what I learn. northcoin........thank you for the quick response / confirmation. cheers Liverpool

@ liverpool post the link to the auction so we can see this coin. Dont worry there never was a 1921 Newfoundland half dollar minted. I'm sure others here are as curious as myself to see this fabrication

Never heard of a '21 Newfie half dollar..
I would look into either getting it removed from the auction block.. or trying to get it for cheap.. perhaps Nickles guy would be interested in looking at it...

Pretty funny...... this is not a Newfoundland coin. I'll bid on it and post a picture on the weekend.

Maybe I will race out there and buy it ! Would look awful good next to my 1947 US Peace dollar and my 1922 Canadian Proof Half and Dollar. Most likely a Chinese fake .

Racing over and buying it or driving up ....lots of time would make me kind of sad. It would pretty much ruin my story. I hope to have a picture to finish it, it would pretty much suck now that I've started the thread to loose it. Wasted time .... Now where was I.............. oh yes, Stay tuned to this channel for an exciting update. thanks to all for reading. respects Liverpool

I had a writing deadline to meet, so I didn't drive up. Looking forward to seeing what it was!

It's Friday morning and the auction is over. My family activities kept me from going to the auction last night so I asked a friend to bid for the coin in my place. This adds a little bit to my story because in doing this I did not get to have a good look at the coin other then the quick eye ball through glass earlier in the day (when I confirmed that it was not a Newfoundland 50 cent piece). With this in mind, I like everyone else have to be cautious on how I spend my cash. I came up with a max for my friend to go to and now I am looking forward to learning if I won the auction. I will see my friend around lunch time, if I won he will most likely have the coin in hand. This has been interesting / exciting. There is, like the original post stated a very very good chance that the coin is a fake. I, as stated above, made my bid with very little information (gambling with long odds) this is not like me. The coin could be made of plastic. If the coin is a fake I will be out more money then I'd like because odds are I will have won the auction, buyers with more time would most likely have seen what I did not see. If there is the smallest chance the the coin is real I did not bid any where high enough and I will have no chance of owning the coin. So..... fake.....I will be out some money but own an interesting story.... I'm okay with this. Real.......... not likely, no really there is no chance that it is real but just for fun if it is, I have at least seen the coin (through glass). If it is real someone else would have easily out bid me. If it is real and I won the auction.................. honestly can't see it. Think Bruce Willis shows up with a flying monkey at your door and invites you to the moon for lunch and gives you a bag of gold coins. Can't happen.
More later today. thanks for reading, I hope you've been at least a little bit entertained. Liverpool
