Wait... Are the coins surfacing from time to time, or have they already surfaced? I'd be glad to see some H mint mark coins at MS-65, especially the 1907-H Cent.

Devlec, fantastic coins!! SP65 maybe 66 then, but hold, ICCS was very conservative with the 65 and 66 grades then. I guess both today easy 65. and Red. But I am not a liberal grader...and what the heck do I know?

Thanks 47P7.. Graded in the 90's as 65's ,..because that's basically as high as they would bother with "ordinary" coins. PCGS will not like the spots/dots on the reverse of the 2nd one ..and will ding me,..so I'll probably have to drill a hole in it... and wear it as a pendant..

If somebody is trying to hype this hoard they sure are doing their best to make it invisible. But I did find out that the _Langdon_ Hoard was a collection of bronze age scrap metal found off the coast of Kent in 1974, and G. F. Landon published a change of address in The Numismatist magazine in February, 1916. I guess this is the insider rumor buzz before some kind of actual buzz? If I wanted to earn top dollar, I'd certainly make sure a search on "landon hoard" or "landon collection" returned something besides furniture. Just saying.

Yeah I've been coming up pretty empty as well. Looks like several forum members are interested hopefully I will be able to get one piece. I know anything above MS64 is beyond me. Hopefully there will be some lower grade ones that are more affordable. I wonder if there will be any silver coins? Anyone have any inside knowledge on this point?

Quote: Anyone have any inside knowledge on this point? You probably would have to go straight to the source on this one (Chuck Moore)... so far, this collection is not being promoted in the same way that Steven Bromberg did with the Robert Kril error collection.

Earlier today I got SOME details I will share. I consider my source unimpeachable and will apologize to all if I am wrong. There are several original dated rolls of Victoria Large cent rolls in RED many will grade 65 or 66. Apparently no super key dates mostly common dates . Lots of five cent silver high grade pieces . There is going to be a finest known RARE date Victoria ten cents that will blow the socks off the Canadian market an 1893 round top 3. Apparently thin in 25 and fifty cent coins. My source says it should be in the neighbourhood of a million dollar or better sale for the Landon hoard in their best estimate. There are many nicer tokens and lots of other stuff, ie world and American coins. I repeat I consider my source absolutely reliable. Should be quite a sale !

Any idea how many pieces in total were found? For something this monumental in the Canadian scene, sure is hush hush. How can one drum up buyers, if they don't know the coins exist. This is the funniest marketing approach ever!! Now Bromberg would be shouting it from the rooftops. Two very different styles. I wonder how much interest there will be?

Several thousand pieces found apparently , the church has been sitting on the stuff for decades. As to interest, I am going to bet that if you want a meet and greet every top coin dealer in Canada will be in Toronto for this one ! The catalogue should be out in three to four weeks from what I got today. The Catalogue cover picture is available on Brombergs website.

Bromberg's site ? Wow! The church has been sitting on thousands of coins incredible. Once the whole story emerges, it sounds like there will be quite a back story!! I've just recently been reading about the saddle ridge hoard. A fantastic story, finding buried cans of coins, just sticking out of the ground. It makes one fantasize about how much buried treasure is out there!!
The catalog cover looks amazing! I definitely would like a hard copy. I doubt it would display well on my phone.
