Ok, so in my town we have a pawn shop. Today, I went there and bought a half dollar. While I was there, she told me about a coin folder with some coins that she was selling for $80. She showed me it, and It had most of the early wheat's in VF shape, including some early s wheat backs.... It didn't have any 31 S's or most other key dates, but It had a 1922 D... Hmm... Maybe I can sell one of my other coins... But, seriously, that is ridiculously cheap for those coins! So gunna go back there in a week and get them if they are still there! What are your thoughts about this? Good deal? Money to be made if I sell these coins individually?

It's the 1922 D with the D missing that is worth a lot of money. If it is just common date wheat cents then it isn't necessarily a good deal. Search ebay's sold listings for "completed" sets of Lincoln wheats. Almost always the "completed sets" are missing the big key dates anyway. Also search for partial Lincoln sets, Lincoln Penny folder and other key words in the SOLD listings, not the active ones. Of course all this depends on how full this folder was. If it is almost full and goes back to 1909 it "may" be worth it. Good Luck with your research~!

IF all of the early teens with an S mint mark are there, yes that would be a decent deal. Those alone would make up the price. What about the 09, 09S, 14D?

The 09 VBD is there, the 09 VBD s isn't though... The 22 no d isn't there either, and I'm not sure about any of the others. Most of the coins are VF, but I don't have any pics

As mentioned, if it has the 09VDB, 09s-19S and all are VF or better, decent deal.

Well, a few key dates are missing... I still haven't bought it yet, as I need to wait for money from Christmas cards. The folder is unfortunately a PVC folder, so I hope the coins aren't in that bad of a condition. Anyway, I know that it's misiing the 1909SVBD, 1914 D, 1930 D, 1922 no D, and 1931 S. I'm sure that there are others missing, I just don't remember... Will post pics when I get it though!

I'm not optimistic about this. The folder is made of plastic?

So far you haven't come close to $80 worth of my money.

when the keys are missing ... it could be hard to get to $80.
But there are a few that can add up ... if they are in better shape.
You did mention the 1922 D. Also check for 1911 S, 1912 S, 1910 S, 1924 D, 1926 S. In VF or better look for .. 1912 D, 1913 D, 1916 D, 1921 S.
Most of the 1909 through 1915 with mint marks are better coins in VF or higher and if problem free.
For me if the better date coins are low grade or have problems .. I do not make the deal. I do not see many of the folder sets that I would pay $80 for. You can always try to make a offer of a lower price.
