I tend to get a little overzealous with the number of projects I have going on at one time.

For the past two months I've been trying to concentrate on how to do 2 different sets. Late date (braided hair) Large cents, and Peace dollars.

I haven't really had that much direction in my collecting as of yet. I've been collecting less than a year, and I have alot of random coins.

This coming week, with a little extra money, I was going to put my foot down and get serious about those two sets, but while browsing a website, and figuring out which Peace dollars and large cents I wanted to buy, I kept noticing those shiny bu Franklin halves staring back at me saying "start a bu Franklin set too".

With limited funds, if I start a Franklin set, then all three sets will take longer to complete.

How many sets do you work on at the same time? Do you consider a certain number too many? Would you get overwhelmed and think "I'm never going to get through all of these" if you had to many going at once, or are you patient enough to take years and years on many sets and then have them all come together after a perhaps decades long wait?

Thanks.

Scott

So...it's just not me that does that. I started a type set album this year and also put my foot down.....No spending on any coins that were not for my new project. Then the Kennedy 1/2 dollar set, then the Coin and Currency set, then the LCS had some Kennedy proofs that I needed for that set, then ebay had a Franklin proof I needed for that set. On and on....all these temptations...so little will power.

And I have been collection for decades. Go ahead and start the Franklin set. It is a fun and not horribly expensive set to put together if you do the basic set without the proofs.
Oh...and to answer your original question I have 6 sets I'm working on that are not complete.

We are in the same boat, I really want to dive into Franklin halves too!

Well, I am short one cent of a Canadian small cent set (but I have a bunch of the varieties errors)

I am pecking away at an Atlantic Canadian master set. I have all of PEI and a good helping of the NS coins.

I collect municipal trade tokens and Sasanian dramchs too!

Also looking at/ aquring American 2ยข and 50 state.
....................,........

Since I am not racing through them to have them done I find what I am doing is working fine for me. I like to read, buy a few, sell them all off and buy a single better example and let it grow.

Wheats, merc dimes, Buffalo nickels, silver Rosie's, and a type set. Then I have a lot more from circulation. Cents dimes, park quarters, State Quarters, and every buisness strike of dollar coins from Ike's to Presidential dollars.

The dollar collection is my ugly stepchildren but I love them. Mostly cause I found a few thousand in gem rolls to sort though at banks.

Only thing that is complete is State Quarters and the Ike's besides four of the varieties I want.

Same as I always was working on, but didn't know until years after I began, ALL of them. I just do it one folder at a time.

Currently focusing just on two, Kennedy half dollars and a Canadian type set. I also keep an eye out for circulating coins to add to my existing albums and folders. I like to switch my focus from time to time though to keep things interesting.

Lincoln 09 to date, Buffalo (ONLY when I find nice, correctly graded, and priced right), IHC's (same criteria as Buffs), Washington quarters (32 to date), dabble with SLQ's, and Ike's.

I actually was inspired to complete my BU Roosevelt dime album based on receiving two of the last 10 BU Roosevelts I still needed from my Secret Santa. I wrapped that up just in time to focus on my recently-started Washington quarter album (an album I swore I would NEVER do). Now, I have my Lincoln Cent set (complete but constantly upgraded), my IHC set (4 more holes), Canadian small cents (4 more holes), proof Lincoln memorial cents (2 more holes), proof Jefferson nickels (probably about 30 holes), Modern Commemorative Half Dollars (5 more holes), the Washington quarter album (about 70% still needed), silver proof ATB Quarters (just waiting for the next year's coins to catch up) and silver proof State Quarters (all of them needed...I actually just started that one too). Considering I had about twice this many going as of the beginning of 2014, I think I am making progress.

The last two years I have been concentrating on my Dansco 7070, but I have a few other sets that are near completion.

The Lincoln Cent album lacks three. Any guesses which three?

I have one album with Indian Head cents, Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, and sixteen holes.

Then there are the ongoing modern coins being added annually.

One, but it encompasses 1,000 years of coinage.
