Hi everyone!

I asked this question about a month ago, and I was just curious to see what sets you have completed.

So far, I have completed the Kennedy Halfs, am up to date with the Statehood Quarters except for Wyoming, and only need 3 or 4 coins for the 1932-1998 Washington quarters. I'm missing the 32D and 32 S obviously.

Is anyone collecting the Presidential dollars out there?

Thank you!

Yesterday, I received a 1922 Lincoln. This completes my Lincoln set 1909-2007 (one for each year).I have also completed an Aussie 1 cent set. State Quarters I have at least one of each and in most cases both mints.

These are the only complete sets, although Aussie 2c,5c,and 10c are not far from completion. I am also collecting the Presidential dollars and received a Jefferson yesterday. I hope to have a complete set of Roosevelt dimes soon, too.

I haven't completed anything yet but I only really got serious about coin collecting about the time I joined this forum (07/07/07). Nothing too special but I'm getting close on some of my moderns.

Pennies 1975-2007 - Missing 2 (1996 and 2001 both plains)
Nickels 1962-1995 - Missing 3 (1962D, 1963D, 1964D)
Dimes 1965-1999 - Missing 1 (1971 plain)

I'm working on quarters, presidentials and some of the older books but those are the ones I'm close on. I need to go back through my quarters and check the mint marks. The book I started State Quarters with only has a space for one of each coin...I need one with room for both mint marks...I'll get around to it.

  • 2-cent, 3-cent silver (pre-1863), and 20-cent business strikes
  • 1870 Proof set (non-gold)

  • 1920-1970's Canadian small cents

  • 20th century type

  • Dansco 7070 type set

  • Close, but no cigar on my 3-cent nickel set

I have yet to complete any sets, I consider all modern issues to be "up to date".

That being said, the sets I have that are up to date are:

Roosevelt 1946-present
Washington 1965-present
State Quarters 1999-present
Presidential dollars

I'm so close to finishing my Jeffersons.

Silver Eagles are complete except for a couple of proofs
Jeffersons except for the 1950-D and one or two from 38/39.
Kennedys, other than the 1970-D
Franklins except for the 48-D and 49-D

Seems like I get close to completing a set and then move on to a different one. I'm currently working on the Walking Liberty halves!

Hi everyone (once again)

Would it be considered "cheating" to buy a complete set off of ebay?

Hi Gold Certs,

Some might say it was cheating, but whether you buy coins individually, find them in pocket change, find them in a bank roll or whatever, it's all about enjoying them. Some enjoy the hunt more than the having. I'm more of a hoarder, so I am inclined at times to just get the set, add it to my stash and then move on.

But I am also cheap, so I usually wind up buying coins individually and trying to beat the cost of the set (haven't bought a set yet).

Good luck with getting the set (easier said than done)!

SBA (minus 1981 S type 2)

Kennedy halves

Interseting that Brkdnc mentioned the 1916D Mercury dime. One of my local coin stores has an About Good one slabbed. He, of course, wants several hundred dollars for it. This brings up an interesting point. If you find a key that's affordable to you should you buy it and then get the rest. Even though, at the time, you have no interest in collecting the series. When is it right to put the cart before the horse?

If I would of been smart 20+ years ago, I would have only pickup Key Date coins. Now most of the ones I need / want I can't afford any more.

The following are complete or up-to-date:

Kennedy half dollars
Franklin half dollars
Jefferson nickels
Roosevelt dimes
Sacagawea dollars
Statehood Quarters
American One Ounce Silver Eagles
Canadian One Ounce Silver Maple Leafs
Australian Lunar Coins
British Silver Britannias

Currently working on Australian 20 Cent and 50 Cent pieces, and am getting very close.

On the horizon: Australian modern coins, Walking Liberty half dollars.

Collections started years ago, but lack of funds for key coins make completion look doubtful: Lincoln Cents, Mercury dimes, Canadian Silver Dollars.

Gold Certificates asks if anyone is collecting the Presidential series. My wife and I are probably over-doing it, but at least there will be some nice sets for the grandkids someday.

We currently have Dansco Albums for each of us, for P and D. We have ordered Dansco Albums for each of us for PD and S. In addition we have put away rolls for the first three Presidents. And, we have several of the mint proof sets of the first four Presidential coins.
