Picked up a few more silver proof sets today. Lately I been letting the sets stack up. But not to long I was putting the Half dollars in holders, quarters in 2X2's the rest in rolls. What are your thoughts ... crack'em or leave them in OGP Zoey say's Crack'em dad (she wants to help)

I keep them in OGP unless using them to build a display set, like my Ike set in the Capitol Plastics Holder I got it. If it is for a set not in a display, where I just own every one like my silver Roosevelt dimes set, then I leave them in the OGP.

I put almost all my coins in Albums so with proof sets, I just break them open.

FYI The 1995 set is the key to the 1992 - 1998 silver proof sets.
It greysheets in the $45 range.

I personally don't crack them unless I need a particular coin out.

Interesting ... Most are suggesting .. keep them OGP.
Might have to work on the safe ... make more room.
I can always crack them later ... if the need is there

I would only crack them if I needed to fill an album. Why remove the protection of the holder to assemble them in a roll to be a abraised but each other.

In my experience some sets the coins will turn milky, in the sets. For example the 1995 above, the Kennedy is starting to turn that way. For the half dollars thinking of getting them in better holders .. or Air-tites. When I say rolls .. I mean tubes. I have had some proofs in rolls for over 20 years .. with little problem. For me .. just handling proofs .. even with gloves, there is a good chance of getting smudges. But overall .. in most cases .. better for the coins to leave in the holders ... but .. then I go back to space problems.

I am a big fan of cracking if it means another album is being assembled.
