Weird has a gold colour not a copper colour.

That's normal for aluminium bronze.

Hey, that's the french small denominations from when I was a kid :)
Indeed, the color is light yellow, bronze color. This is a very common type, a bit like your cents (this was the smaller denomination - a 1 centime was made in aluminium, but that was about 20 years before).

Not too many five centime pieces were minted in gold, friend.

Go into a coin shop and take a look at the genuine gold coins therein, that's what they look like.

Take the one you got in change back to where you got it and complain. You've been cheated twice! First, it's not a Canadian coin, and second, it's not gold.
