Just curious, let's say someone asks you
"How many silver dollars do you have in your collection?"

What would you consider to be silver dollars.

Bust
Draped Bust
Seated Liberty
Trade
Morgan
Peace
Lafayette
Eisenhower (40%)
Modern commemorative (dollars (90%)

Edit ...adding ASE's

Again ...just for fun ... Curious what others think

I automatically assume them to be Morgans and that's mainly because that's what I have the most of.

I personally only consider silver dollars to be a coin that is comprised of some percentage of silver. Morgans, Walkers, etc. Also while ASEs are not usually called silver dollars, they technically are.

Just saw the edit to add ASE.

I say no. While they are monetized at One Dollar, they are bigger than the traditional Silver Dollar. This is why they are called Silver Eagles and not Silver Dollars.

This is kinda self-evident. If it is/was US Legal Tender with a face value of $1, and it's silver (in whatever percentage), it's a Silver Dollar. How can you call clad copper "silver?"

Interesting ...

I was thinking ...that with the 40% Ike's in the list.
Some might say ... No not a traditional silver dollar.

Or even the modern commemorative dollars, not for spending
but stil the same silver?

So far some yes .. For a ASE and some no ... Because they
are not for circulation ....
Rest in Peace

Proof Morgan dollars were not for circulation and I still consider them "Silver Dollars"

And I will say all of the above listed.

Neither are Proof Ikes or Peace. The argument can be made that the fact they issued Proof versions tends to support my assertion.

I'd put the cutoff date for "Silver Dollars" at 1935.

If they contain silver, they are a silver dollar, even an ASE.

At first I wasn't going to include the ASE because I consider them a bullion coin. However, because they are legal tender (by a congressional act) I included them also.
