I went through $250 in bank rolls, no silver only 3 nifc 2004p's. Blah..............

Gothic Florin - I feel your pain, my silver drought has just been extended by two more boxes. The last 7 have been dry, but hang in there. I did happen to find 10 NIFC, mixed years from 2003-2009, but no silver. It is frustrating to search a whole box and find no silver, but hopefully it will get better soon. I'm hoping for some Walkers or Franklins soon, but I will be happy with whatever silver comes my way.

My drought continued on Friday. I went to 3 more banks and no silver. I'm now 0/13 on this run. I'm starting to look like the NJ Nets.

forgive me crew, I might sound stupid on this, but why not just bid, on ebay, for rolls of pre-65 silver coins? I know, or at least I guess I know, part of the fun is discovering a "hidden treasure", but I think that the dollar itself, as a medium of exchange is in BIG trouble, and silver content US coins aRE one means of saving.......and also apologies for coming late into the thread. The fun here is obtaining it cheaply! My current 2009 search totals (half dollars only) are 93 ounces of silver at a cost of $2.92 ounce. You can't touch that on ebay! Not to mention that Franklins, and Walkers are routinely found and Barbers are even popping up! Edited by ratman4762

of course the majority of that is 40% halves. The stats for my 90% only are
21.7 ounces @ $1.38 ounce.

This ought too convince you to start roll searching halves along with your purchases of bullion. It will bring down your overall cost per ounce on your hoard!  |

Todays rolls that I picked up while I was rounding up nickels to search were awful. 11 rolls and no silver but did get 1 NIFC 2003P.
However, I did get silver from 3 different teller trays at 3 different banks. My first Bennie from a teller tray! Teller calls me over and said she had some halves for me! As she grabbed them up all I could see was Bennie on top (couldn't focus on anything else). As she counted them out she took a second look at the Bennie and gave it to me! Turns out it was the only silver in the pile of 13.
Take for the day 1963D, 1964, 1968D.

Are any of you half roll searching vets? wondering what the silver take was in the 70's and 80's. I can olny imagine.

Picked up $127 today, scored 3x 40%, 1 90% 63D Franklin that was BU and 2 NIFC (2003 P). Might be my last one of the year. Did better this year than last year!

My father searched in the early 60's when everything was silver... My how I wish he would have hoarded silver coins then. He was looking for key dates and errors. I brought him up to speed on todays CRHing activity and he was amazed how much trouble I go through for one silver coin. I am sure the 70's had quite a bit of silver out there but by the 80's and the run up on silver I think it quickly got pulled out of circulation.

Today I hit 7 banks around town. No silver out of $9 total. I did score 36 Ikes (no silver), which are relatively hard to come by around here.
It's funny when the teller sees you in the parking lot and already has your coins ready when you walk in!
