There are also 1973-D and 1977-D with doubling in TRUST to be on the lookout for. Also, the '71 and 77-D struck in silver clad by error. Don't know if anyone on this site had found one yet.

There's a guy on another forum that found a copper clad missing the nickel cladding on the reverse (I forget the date). He said there are only 2 known to exist---his and one that sold on ebay for over $500. He says he regrets to this day not bidding on it. I can't believe that someone with such a rare coin would sell it raw on ebay. I'm sure if the coin would be slabbed AU or better, it would be worth multi-thousands in a "real" coin auctioning house like Heritage.

hmmmmmm is it against rules for me to post my email for him to see?
Yes. The reason is that spam-bots are always on the lookout for fresh e-mail addresses.

Tried 4 banks again in my area. 3 of them had no halves! The last one had 300$ worth!

Will be going through them once I get home!

Finished a box last night and wasn't happy. Although I wasn't skunked, I was hoping for much better. I only got 3 40% & 1 NIFC-2004-D.

3 40% isn't bad. I stopped after getting skunked 8x in a row (and because I moved so the bank is a lot less convenient to go to now).

Seems like you have a better chance of getting a NIFC piece than a 79D. I would love to know an explanation for why so many 2001 (P only)-2006 coins are getting into circulation.

Just curious, are you suggesting that a substantial number of Kennedy's are circulated because of theft? It's possible, but most folks that I see spending their Kennedy's are just down on their luck.

What's really odd is that when ever I go to local banks, they never have any rolls. (I retired and live in a very, very small town!) I think I'll try the local Wal Mart.

I suspect that a fair number of people buy the bags, cherry pick the best examples, then dump the rest.

yea you get a fair number of lower ms 63 or less examples in bags, so once there opened these arnt really worth saving if you have hundreds of them

A bank today had two 'gold plated' 2008 D halves. They wouldn't give them to me (not that I wanted them anyway - it did give me the chance to tell the teller to handle coins by their edges!)

I wonder though... A) who made these bizarre coins, and B) who would actually purchase them, and then two years later, cash them in? (Mind you, this was a bank in the inner city.)

By the way, picked up 6 40%'s and an 87-S proof yesterday. Skunked today.

Hi, I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and have found the information to be very helpful. I only began investing in silver at the end of last year. I later learned about coin roll searching and have been doing so since March. I search halves mostly because from what I have read on here they hold the best chance of finding something, but I also search dimes, nickels and pennies.

To date, this is what I have found.

116 coins total
89 40% halves
9 90% halves
10 silver dimes
8 War Nickels

One of my 90% halves was a 1948 Franklin.

I wanted to thank everyone that has contributed to this forum. The information on here is very useful.

Boxes have been really slow lately. I went through 2 boxes last week and found 1 1951 Franklin S mint. One of the boxes had 20 NIFC 2006 P and D. On Sunday I had a small breakthrough. I searched 2 more boxes and found: 14 40% silver, 1 dateless S mint Walker and 1 1964 in 1 box. The other box had 2 40% silver, both in the same roll. I am always hopeful that when one box is good, the other will be good also, but this is rarely the case for some reason. We'll see what Fridays 2 boxes bring.

I always hope that when one of my boxes is good, the other will be also. I usually get two boxes at the beginning of the week and 2 at the end. This week, the bank was only able to get me one box. I did see a 1969 sitting on top of one of the rolls. I set it aside to open last. I checked my rolls and 2 rolls had 3 40%ers , 1 roll had 2 40%ers and 4 rolls had 1 40%er each, including the roll I set aside. 12 total for that box. I sure wish I had gotten my other box and had the same luck.

Besides the silver I have found, I've gotten an "Obama" half, a 1979 proof in decent shape, a couple 1972 d with no FG on the back and probably about 40 NIFC post 2001's.
