Thanks for the replies. I know what you are saying. I get feelings when I open a box. I usually know when I see the box if there is any silver there. It's funny. I told my wife when I opened those boxes the other day, that I had a feeling they would not have any silver. Maybe I jinxed myself. I will keep at it though.

Ok, I know you guys say it is just luck, but I am going to test my theory. I just picked up my 2 boxes from the bank and they have the older darker print that I spoke of the other day. I am betting on them holding silver. Wish me luck, I will post the results when I get done!

After a looooooonnnnng dry spell which caused me to take "a break" for a couple months or so, I went through a box of Fed Resv. last night. 1 - 90%er 4 - 40%ers 2 - NIFC'sNo Proofs I'd say that's a pretty good return to the game wouldn't ya'll ? ...

Good job eaglefoot. How many did you say you went through? Well as promised here are the results from my 2 boxes.
Box 1 6 67's 3 68's 3 69's
Here was the real surprise. I found my first walking liberties. 1 34 1 43 1 44
I also found a gold plated 2004 in perfect shape.
Box 2 1 68 1 76proof 1 2002 1 2004
I must admit box 2 was a downer after box one, but a great day crh'ing. So my theory is at least half right.

Nice finds - any time you get multiple Walking Liberty or any 90% coins I consider that to be a decent box. Just searched two boxes last night and was skunked! Better luck next week.

motos, that is good advice. Maybe they would put up with it for awhile but those kennedy boxes are heavy and I'm sure it would annoy anyone after awhile. I am thinking about something else. I did find a couple of banks on google in my area that have coin counters in their lobby's. I've never used a banks coin counter so I don't know if it accepts half dollars or not but what do you think about this idea? Just taking a bunch of half dollars to a branch with a coin counter and deposit it that way?

In the advent of the JFK thread dropping off the first page of the Modern coin forum I will report what I found at lunch today. Bank that rarely produces had $220 in customer rolls. I havent been able to open them all (work kinda gets in the way) but I did about half and so far have found 100 - 40's. Cant complain...
**Update**
I miscounted the number I ended up with. I only got 89 out of 5 rolls where the silver was concentrated. Oh well, still not a bad day.

I went through two boxes this past week, the first yeilded only 2 nifc the second yeilded 7 40%'s, a 90%, and 3 nifc including a 2010d which I had been missing. All I need now to complete the business strikes are the 40% silver 76, a 2010p, and that pesky 70d.

Well, I am disappointed. I went to pick up my 2 boxes from the bank today and they told me it would be the last they would order for me. They said that it cost them too much money to order them and too much to ship them back when I returned them to another of their branches. I have been to every bank in my city almost and I don't know where I will be able to get more and where I would dump them if I got them as my bank said they wouldn't take them anymore. On top of that I only found 1 lonely 40%er today and have to get rid of 2 boxes of halves now.

I ended up getting my first box. I wanted to complete my Kennedy collection and I thought it would be fun to search a box. I filled lots of holes and had some decent finds: 1952 Franklin half5 40% Kennedy halves1 2003 proof (non-silver) 1 1968 5 franc swiss (?) coin that appears to be silver Overall it was sprinkled with some nice coins and I enjoyed finding some nice silver coins.

well there was 2 NIFC's but no silver .
Anybody know of a good deal on coin bags - I found a bank that will take unrolled coin and process it for me but I have to provide my own bags.
