Wow today was my lucky day...I wasn't going to stop by the bank but my class ended early so I decided to go. Long story short, I pick up all the halves they have, 3 rolls. Roll 1: 1 40%...roll 2: 1 40%....roll 3: SOLID SILVER...3 walkers and 17 franklins. I was speechless. And on top of that I got a silver Roosevelt dime in change.

Just started coin roll hunting today. I was just driving around asking some local banks in my area if they had any loose or rolled halves. At the third bank that I went to, the teller said she had 4 dirty ones. I gladly gave her my 2 paper dollars. All four turned out to be silver. 3 90% 64's and 1 40% 66! Now I'm hooked. Can't wait to start ordering some boxes.

Hey guys thanks but this came after weeks of nothing or a 40%er here and there...I guess it's true, ya gotta keep on searching because there is still stuff out there believe it or not! I will try to get some pics up soon. @andrewjconners: yep customer wrapped that's all I search with halves

yeah but I mean, how do you get customer rolled wraps...do you just go in and say "hey, have any customers turned in halves this week?"

i mean, every time I ask for customer wrapped they say they have none...and I've gone to different banks like every 2-3 days in the past month. I've done well with the boxes, but I guess in suburbia you don't find a lot of old money.

just walk into a bank and ask the teller if he/she or any of the other tellers have any half dollars they respond with yeah I have some or ask how many and go searching with the other tellers for you My only walker was found in like 6 bucks of loose halves thats why you dont just get wrapped I get silver in loose change as much as rolls from the bank ask for whatever they have

@oblakavshtanax All I say when I go to a bank is "you guys got any half dollar rolls?" and if they do they are always customer wrapped. I've never gotten a roll of halves that wasn't customer wrapped. And as far a them not having any, this happens to me all the time, I either get another type of coin, try a different bank or come back later in the week. Hope this helps.

oblakavshtanax - Dude! Can we call you obla or nax for short? That's a long user name . slash112 has it right. But if you feel like your local banks are dry just be patient because someone will eventually bring some in. Another thing you can try is take a little drive to a nearby small town and check at a couple of their banks. You'll likely get a pleasant suprise. You don't have to make a special trip. Just wait til the next time you're going out of town. I did this on one occaision and the head teller was more than happy for me to 'take them off her hands'. I don't remember the exact numbers right now but I did find a few 40%ers from that bank.

Quote: Small town banks is the way to go. I definitely found this to be true! I hit all the in-town banks and have had little success BUT the one small town bank I went to had a bonanza of 40% in the rolls I got from them. A few of the rolls looked like they had been sitting for YEARS! Road trip coming soon!
