Aaaaargh! I picked up my first box of JFKs to start roll searching. The teller was in a slight hurry and so was I. So as soon as she handed me the box, I quickly slipped it into a small bag to carry out to the car. I thought it seemed a bit small, but thought maybe it was just me. This was last Friday. I did not get to look at the box closely until later that evening after the bank was closed. As I took it form the bag, I read the sticker on the side of the box that I had missed before putting it into the bag. it was a box of Rutherford B Hayes dollar coins I called back Monday, the head teller (nice person who offered to order them for me), said she was sorry for the mistake and would order them - they should be here this Thursday - tomorrow! I am hoping for a phone call tomorrow to go swap the boxes! BTW, my other bank told me they would charge 20.00 to order them and ship them back. This is why I got on the phone and made some calls to local banks telling them exactly what I was after. The head teller at my new bank was more very helpful, said they can order any time for me, and will call to let me know when they arrive. What a difference in banks!

biggfredd It just happened to be a "D" All I really saw was 1957. I wish I could see though the rolls sorting would be much faster.

Quote: 180 degree rev rotation. If genuine, the rotated die coin could be worth quite a bit. However, fakes outnumber genuine examples probably 100 to 1. Check the weight (should be 11.3 grams or so), check the "ring" sound by dropping the coin on a tile or marble surface or by tapping with a pencil, and check both sides along the rim for a machining seam. If everything checks out, I'd send it to ANACS for authentication. I have found 5 or 6 fake rotated die Kennedy halves. They all have low weight (by nearly 1 gram), a dull "thud" sound when dropped, and a visible seam along the reverse rim. Please report back what you find out!

I am watching several 1993 BU on ebay to see what they sell for. I want to have the biggest bang for my "buck" in 30 years but I am also a big fan of the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) method and just hoarding silver. I will let Y'all know.

Jaolbler....likely those "fake rotated die" coins you found are magicians coins used for the "scotch and soda" trick. They actually come apart into two pieces. Google it and see This is what the insides look like
