Received this in change at the local supermarket. Other than some minor surface corrosion, pretty decent grade. Not worth much, but an interesting circulation find. It's always exciting to see what the date is when you turn over a wheat back. Edited by jimbucks 06/16/2015 4:35 pm

It's always exciting to see that wheat back glancing back in the wild. Nice find!

Wheat backs are getting scarcer in the wild. I am nearly finished searching a bag of 5000 cents and have only found 6 of them so far. Maybe 200-300 coins to go to finish the bag. It doesn't seem like very long ago you could find 1 in every other roll.

I note a dealer in the CW classifieds who regularly offers pre-1930 cents in bulk at 500 for $220, or 44 cents apiece!
So Jim, go treat yourself to a quarter of a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Nice find.
I agree; it IS a blast to find really old coins still circulating.

Congrats on your find. Even though it's a common date, they are not really very easy to find anymore, especially in the 30's and older. One wheat per 8 rolls of pennies is about what I'm averaging. They will likely have more value in the future than they do today, so I'm hanging on to all I find unless they are in poor condition.

Isn't a good feeling to find an old Wheat cent in change ? Too bad we can't find other denominations dated 1935 in change. NOT(CRH).

That coin certainly has had a long and useful life.
It's not valuable, but it is pretty fun to find. I started a similar thread about bicentennial quarters recently.

Wheaties were my first collection, and I still grin when I see one 'in the wild'! Great find!

It's been a while since I've got a wheatie in change. I have about 5 tubes of them from the good ole days. In the past I've even found Mercury dimes and Buffalo nickels. Not anymore though.

Cool. I'm seeing a lot of wheats in change lately. I've gotten two or three in the last week.
