So my boss called me yesterday and said he thought he had some counterfeit money used at his other restaurant and wanted me to look at it. I get there and he pulls this out from an envelope. I was like that is definitely not counterfeit money and it's probably worth a little more than face value. So now I'm trying to do some research as to it's value. I barely dabble in currency so this is well beyond my knowledge base. Does any one have an idea as to value?

In the little research I did a few minutes ago, I was unable to find any small size sold at Heritage or Lyn Knight.
My National Bank Notes 6th edition census CD shows 8 small size reported. Of course, this serial number isn't among them.
The 6th edition which came out in 2008, lists a value of $200 in Fine. It could be worth more, or even less depending on demand.

Great pickup! Those were still around when I was a kid, but I havn't seen one in circulation since the 50s.

Nice! Low serial number too. It's a shame about the stain along the bottom edge.

Notice the direction of the flag on the reverse? It has since turned around.

Wow.... very cool. Amazing how notes come to be in our collections, and this is a beaut, stain or not.

Someone on a coin group on facebook asked if one of these was worth keeping.
I kind of chuckled answering the question saying "Yes"...

"No, it's not worth keeping. Here, I'll dispose of it for you."

I sent an email to manifest auctions and they gave an auction estimate of $500-$1000. Like everything else in this world though it's only worth what someone will pay for it. I kind of want to go watch the security cameras and see who spent it so I can track them down to see what else they have stored away.

I just reread your first post on this....and it sort of makes me sad but I can only think of two reasons someone would spend that bill at a restuarant: it was stolen or it was a keepsake of someone who passed away and the relatives didn't know or care what it was.
Let's hope it's the latter and now it has a good home.

I try not to think about who spent it and why, but those thoughts have definitely ran through my head. It's definitely landed in a good home though. I'm trying to think of it as some good karma being returned.

I see you live just south of Buffalo, so I'm guessing this note has stayed in the area all it's life.
A note like this really stands out, so someone must have been pretty desparate to have to spend it.
Glad it didn't find it's way to a bank, where it possibly would have been taken out of circulation.
