Poll Question
This question is with the stipulation of: YOU personally Working and Saving up the money to buy a SINGLE COIN over $10,000+. Reason why I ask is I was looking at the latest issue of Coin World and most advertisements show coins for prices I personally would never be able to afford nor would I be willing to save up the 10's of thousand of dollars to buy one of these coins. It's obvious they aren't catering to even the above average collectors! To me, it's almost like there is a group out there that want their Ego's inflated by saying they paid $50k for a single coin and "look there it is in the magazine". Some of those prices are ridiculous to me and truly I am not impressed.

If I ever bought a 10,000.00 coin, I'm pretty sure my wife would divorce me.

If I ever spent that much on a single coin, I'd forever sit there thinking about all the other coins I could have bought for that same sum. o.o

Even if I had the budget, there's way too many other cool coins to buy.
And my wife would divorce me too - and probably take the coin in the settlement!

I'm all about the quantity over quality...for the most part However if I had unlimited wealth I'd probably buy a few of those just because I could. I figure that's why everyone else does too. If you had millions of dollars would you be staying in the same house and driving the same car you have now? At that price money is spent because you have it and don't need it.....not because you scrimped and saved relentlessly to make a 10k+ purch ASE

There is no option for my answer. At this time in my life there are more important things to spend the money on (children). I could see somewhere in the future(10-20 years from now) maybe buying a coin for 10K.

I'd be divorced, lose everything including the coin, so no way! :) 10k is just way too much when I can get just as much enjoyment out of a $35 coin :)

I did not answer either. With my luck, the dollar will keep tanking and Y2K9 will put the 1909S VDB and/or 1914D LHC's I need near that price! So, I have no intention of spending $10k on a coin... I really, really need to get one sooner rather than later!

Yeah, I would pay that much for a single coin.
But only if I couldn't complete the set otherwise.

I will some day spend alot on one con just not today trying to raise 3 kid and having a wife but after the kid are out of the house in 18-20 year I hope to be able to spend thousands on coins. I will someday own a 1916-D dime any grade that is my dream coin of right know. But I also hope to put together every set or circulated coins that the USA put out. SO I am sure one day I will pay close to that for one coins but not today of for a lot of year. Well unless I win the Lottery.

i dont think i'll ever spend $10k on a single coin but I will definitely get into the thousands. right now, I have probably about 75% of all US coins that are under a $50 budget, so as those numbers get smaller and smaller, i'll have to start spending much more to satisfy my compulsive coin-buying mania.

I cant afford these for sure. If an had change to buy an 1944 d steel penny or 43 copper for 10000 I would buy for sure. I would run it at heritage auction to sell it no problem. Those coins this year I think they sold over 50k to 100k for at the auction.
To tell you truth those high end coins dealers selling those coins priced over 10000 dollars. I would be afraid to buy it and it be worth maybe 1000 dollars or less if I had to sell it. You get the idea.
I would rather buy 1 million pennys or 20000 half dollars, 200000 nickels nickels from bank to search for cool coins becides one overpriced coin.

It all depends on the actual market value of the coin. I'd buy every one I could get my hands on for $10,000 if I was 100% sure I could sell it for $12,000 or more. I don't see paying that kind of money for one for my collection.

Only if I knew that I could get many times more back when it was sold

$10,000 for a single coin. No way. I could never afford that , but even if I could, I wouldn't. Could buy way to m any other coins with that kind of money. Could even travel to build my collection.
