After looking at the US Mint's website, would I be correct in understanding that the only way to get the San Francisco Uncirculated ATB Quarters is from the rolls they're selling on the mint's website?

Yep, in mint rolls or they sell them in bags of 100 too. Otherwise from a 3rd party as Meadowview mentioned. Not only are they inconvenient to get, their existence makes it hard for those who like to fill albums.
I wish they'd put them in the Annual Uncirc sets too. There are 28 coins in there already, what's five more?
I've only bought one or two of the S rolls in the first year they started minting them. Going forward I probably will just pay the premium per individual coin (or maybe someone would be good enough to sell a set) for my album.

Thankfully, my current set-up doesn't include this type, so I plan on ignoring their existence al long as possible. I didn't collect Washington proofs until I acquired an album with spots for them earlier this year. In the last three months I've bought over 200 different Washington proofs and now I'm more or less 'tapped out' for awhile. I still need the pre 1950 proofs but that probably won't get taken care of for a long time.

If the mint had started these S mint coins at the start of the series I would have been all over them. It's hard to get excited about them with the first ones not issued. So far I haven't bought any.

I am a big fan of the "S" quartets, and have been buying a roll of every park as they come out. Have picked up a few bags too.
For the album., I use the Dansco date set album. For 2010 and 2011 I use silver proof quarters. That way the whole album has "S" mint quarters.

Well, this is disappointing, but thanks for letting me know for sure. Quote: I wish they'd put them in the Annual Uncirc sets too. I think that they for sure should be included in the Annual Uncirculated Sets. Some may argue that they shouldn't because they are not made for circulation, but my reply to that would be that neither are the small dollars. You know what would be really nice? If someone would make an unofficial set that looks similar to the Annual Uncirculated Sets.

Just go to your LCS. Good chance they have some. IMO though, only pay the premium if you are trying to set up a future generation. Which I am doing. Hoping future generations can hold on to them for at least 100 years.

I want coins that would be graded MS-67 or higher by NGC or PCGS. I've found that it's most cost effective to find the more recent coins in new mint sets. Sometimes you can find them at coin shows, but you have to look through a ton of coins. Some dealers seem to get irritated when you don't take whatever they have. I'm often given nicer newly minted coins in change.

They are readily available at coin shows where dealers break the rolls/bags and sell them individually.

I have paid up to a dollar each for them. Not bad when I consider that I only need one to fill one hole, right?

The hole is the size of one San Francisco minted ATB Quarter, of course.

Multiply by 46 holes... and it's not chump change (but still not too bad at a buck..er, jbuck). Wouldn't be the first time I've paid 4x face (or much more) for something round and shiny...

Look for Coin Dealer's at Flea Markets, they usually have some for sell, but expect to pay up to a Dollar,
