Overpaid for this coin on a hunch that it might be a 7/7. This was not listed in the add but from the picture, I thought I could definitely see doubling on the last 7. I was pleasantly surprised when the coin arrived today. Fills another spot in my set. Also looks like doubling in the 8. What do you think? Thanks

I agree the 8 also looks doubled, more so on the inside.

They're somewhat similar but if you twisted my arm, I'd say the rarest is hi/lo, then the strong R/L, then the weak R/L, as shown below

Great pictures canadian-varieties! I'm quickly learning that the varieties are what I'm most interested in. Appreciate the information but please, next time pick mine as the rarest

Cool. I just looked at my 1887 and it also has the double 7. Charlton did not have all three varieties and so previously I had not realized it was a 7/7. This example of mine has a crazy looking planchet flaw on the obverse.
